I wanted to post a short entry here to assure you that OpenDiary is functioning and is well. The volunteer admin team has been very busy with day jobs as of late, and an immediate response isn’t always possible. If you submit a helpdesk ticket, it will be looked at, if not always immediate. If an extended time has passed, simply reply to the automated helpdesk email that you received. I apologize for the recent silence, but there is always someone at the wheel. While we appreciate all your notes, If you require assistance, please contact us via the help link in the top-right of every page as this is the fastest way to receive a reply. 17 , 17 7 F 2012 00:00:00 GMT Editing a note http://www.opendiary.com/entryview.asp?authorcode=A100001&entry=10008 http://www.opendiary.com/entryview.asp?authorcode=A100001&entry=10008 We've made a small change this evening, but hopefully one that'll prove quite helpful, especially for anyone using our mobile site: Currently if you leave a note for someone and then want to change the wording, the only way that you can do this is by copying the note to your clipboard, deleting the note and then finally pasting the original message back into a new note. It does work, but it can be a bit problematic, especially if you're using a mobile device. To try and make this process easier you now just need to delete the note and when the entry reloads you'll find that your original note is already in the note box ready for you to edit and save. If you just wanted to delete the note, then that's already done and you don't need to do anything else. Please be aware that notes can still only be deleted within two minutes of being saved and if you want to resave a note you must do it straight away. If you delete a note and then change to any other entry (on any diary) the old note will be lost and you'll have to type it in again. Edit: We've had a few people ask why there's a time restriction on deleting notes. It's actually been two minutes since the delete feature was added in back in <a href="http://www.opendiary.com/entryview.asp?authorcode=C100003&entry=20161" target="_blank">2006</a> so nothing has actually changed in that respect. The original reason (which is still valid) was because if there's a longer time period it's possible for someone to leave notes which break the site rules which would upset the diary owner, but the person would also be able to delete them before the admin team could take any action against them. The other reason for having a limit is that when you leave a note it becomes a part of someone elses diary and it could cause problems and even distress if all of a sudden notes started vanishing. We appreciate that some members would like the two minutes to be raised to a slightly higher number, but it is purely there just to be able to have time to adjust a note you've just left. At the current time there are no plans to increase the limit, but this may be looked at again in the future.
