I went to Church on Mothers Day! I'm glad I did. I debated, but it was, GOOD! Pastor BOBS wife sat right behind me! I did not know it until, after praise songs, we all were ask'd to stand and greet. I turned around and there was Susie! Shes hard to figure, but think she is fine! I'd like to like her, but you just don't know! I so VERY impressed how nice everyone was to me! I have to keep tell'n myself, to dump the attitude! I'd much rather give them a hug. I want to tell ya all, if your need a LIFE charge, go to CHURCH! Still I would rather see a movie...

A woman is walking on the road and a voice shouts out, "Don't take a step further." She obeys and suddenly a ton of bricks fall on the place where she would have otherwise been. She thinks she imagined it and keeps walking until suddenly the voice calls out again. "Don't take a step further." She stops and a car skids past. Then suddenly she hears the voice saying, "I am your guardian angel, and I will warn you before something bad happens to you. Now do you have any questions you want to ask me?" Yes! Shouts the woman, "Just where were you on my wedding day!"

A transgendered moment in time

Yet another transgendered individual made news today, following on the heels of a recent string of more positive public stories of the TG community. I’m speaking of Fallon Fox, MMA competitor. Is it finally happening? the press and media is taking on and supporting the cause of TG rights and acceptance? I think so. Here’s why this is happening now and why we should be hopeful. The battle for gay rights has shifted. Polls indicate a majority of Americans are OK with same sex marriage, gays can serve openly in the military, and when someone comes out now, it’s more of a dull minor thud than the earth shattering announcement of yore. In short, “Gay is so yesterday. “ Those who like to crusade for causes feel the need to move on and tackle the next issue. In today’s America, where a half-black man is President, and gays are openly accepted, what’s left? Until such time as Aliens crash land and need to have their rights protected, transgendered people are just about the only game left in town.
Fallon Fox provides a transgendered bookend to Jenna Talackova, the transgender individual who became Miss Vancouver, and competed to be Ms. Canada in the Ms. Universe pageant. In a classic case of beauty and the beast, Fallon shows that transgendered people are as diverse as everyone else. Although her appearance is nowhere near beastlike, she’s actually very pretty, Fallon Fox shows that not all transgendered people are girlie girls, and that they run the full gamut of interests that everyone else has. And despite the fact that she was drafted (she was outed), and didn’t volunteer to be a spokesperson, she represented the community well in her CNN interview. This time around, people seem to be supporting her. It could be that scientific evidence has convinced more people that transgenderism is genetic as opposed to a lifestyle choice, or it could just be that they are afraid Fallon will kick their ass. I write facetiously, but it can’t hurt that she looks good and can kick butt too.
There were a few cries of foul on someconservative radio shows, but overall the response has been muted. Another important development is that we haven’t heard from Feminist groups in opposition, at least not yet. If transgenders can receive support from that quarter and can be accepted as now being genetically female by women, at least in terms of sport capabilities, then that is another giant step forward. We’ll have to wait and see the decision by the sanctioning authorities, but at the very least, Fallon has brought transgenders back into the spotlight. I hope this is one fight she can win.

It's Good to Laugh

Diary note :

It makes me happy to see people treating each other well. Even just a simple friendly exchange between strangers. I know a keen sense of humor and laughter is a good balance to all the stress we face. We are living in very erratic times.
My motto the last few years has been: Be good to each other. Be good to yourself and laugh.

It's easy to say it, and guess what... it's shockingly JUST as easy to actually do it... but try to do so without expectation or reward. You'll still feel good about it and even if you don't realize it at the time, you're making a difference.
