i figured just awhile ago

to contemplate just what to know.

spark of flame in darkened night;

bringing sharp edges into light.

sweet allure becomes demure;

light withdrawn, the dark unsure.

even still, you do appeal.

curious patterns; my life surreal.

and while the night is filled with haunting dreams,

your name seems to shine and float between the seams...

truth (or is this a song?)

she speaks of nature being majestic and loving.
she speaks of the ocean and magic, lavish and stunning.
she tells me about a learning device she found in the stars...
she tells me she loves me while she tortures and scars!

and nature gives me a feeling of peace...
i close my eyes and my soul divides, my spirit hides while my body sighs.

i search for clues in the depths of your eyes...

and i just can't get enough.

because she sings a sweet song filled with lies,
sweet, soft words, they ease my mind.
i know the truth but i decide, i see the ocean in her eyes.

so i follow you down the dark path! there is no truth only lies in the past...

but you sing that sweet song with your eyes.

i know the truth, i know the lies, i know the secrets that you hide.
i know more than i need to know, i know that i really should go.
i know what i need from you, i know the magic that you do.
there's only one thing left to do.

keep singing sweet songs filled with lies,
sweet, soft words to ease your mind.
you know the truth but you decide to see the beauty of my lies.

the truth resides within my eyes,

i see the beauty of your lies.

i watched the ravens come today.

i knew it would end this way.

the sky is not blue,

nor is it gray.

a subtle hue.

perfect.

the color of a weary heart.

the shimmer of my eyes.

i can't believe,

this is pain?

this moisture

not from my eyes,

it must be rain.

here it rests. i don't mind,

i understand being exhausted.

it falls away.

lost in the harvest wind that follows you.

and you are reaped.

the ravens have come today.

you told me it would feel this way.

it seemed too cold for flight...

this chilled, dark night.

and i don't care for the company.

if i ever...have to die,

i'd like to choose the place and time:

it would be in the morning, baby. with no one awake to try to save me. the stars and dew and i collide, we merge forever in the sky.

with no one around to hear my sighs, no sad eyes to make me cry...

i would fly forever, baby,

so please don't cry,

try not to hate me.

we'll dance again i promise, baby.

i'll wear your heart, i'll fly the skies. so smile for me and waste no sighs, my new home is in the sky. remember me, but waste no time...

i'm in the sky, but in disguise:

i'm in the wind, i'm all around,

i am the song without a sound.

so if the sun is shining down,

my love for you will still abound.

i'm immortal, pretty baby...

it seems your love has finally saved me.

so if i ever...have to die,

laugh for me and please don't cry...

for i have found my place in time.

*rest and waves (black december)

12\15\04

today was her birthday. so today we let loose her final touch upon our world.

she loved the beach. and now it loves her,

or what is left of her,

and always will for better or worse, for there she will remain.

small scissors cut free the plastic that held her,

pink carbon and bone fragment were caught upon wind and water.

the water, bitter and horribly cold, rushed up amongst our shoes and mixed my mother into the sand.

gusts of wind threw sand into our eyes,

it tossed our hair and cut through our clothes,

biting into the bone,

and it scattered my mother out into the frigid atlantic.

i could almost feel her smile as the waves carried her to sea,

or crashed her into the shore

as her death crashed into me.

she was such a happy woman, and the ocean brought her joy. even in the cold it would bring the song of her laughter i am sure.

it is not so kind to me.

for i am morose.

yet she rests, here where she once laughed and played as a child, and then brought my sister and i to laugh and to play and dance in the waves. and now we have brought her back...

and we laugh and we cry.

and she floats away

on her birthday.
