so, im in first year seminar the other day, and somehow my professor got discussing fossils. Fossils are cool and what not but not cool enough to keep my interest. well, then he told us he had a fossil of dinosaur shit and he said he wouild bring it next class. He also told us that as a great halloween trick, someone should light it on fire and throw it on someones doorstep, woudnt that smell great. yup thats what he said, of course he was joking about the last bit, but still. Well for some reason, it stayed inside my head right up to today....and im not sure why, but i cant wait until he brings it in to class. anyways, i thought i'd share this random thought. very random-osity. Really though, i should be studying biology notes right now...sighs....

'"You cannot imagine how his ideas caught me, Harry, inflamed me,'" Dumbledore says in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the seventh and final book in Rowling's record-breaking fantasy series.

The news brought gasps, then applause at Carnegie Hall, the last stop on Rowling's brief U.S. tour, and set off thousands of e-mails on Potter fan Web sites around the world. Some were dismayed, others indifferent, but most were supportive.

"Jo Rowling calling any Harry Potter character gay would make wonderful strides in tolerance toward homosexuality," Melissa Anelli, webmaster of the fan site http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org, told The Associated Press. "By dubbing someone so respected, so talented and so kind, as someone who just happens to be also homosexual, she's reinforcing the idea that a person's gayness is not something of which they should be ashamed."

"'DUMBLEDORE IS GAY' is quite a headline to stumble upon on a Friday evening, and it's certainly not what I expected," added Potter fan Patrick Ross, of Rutherford, N.J. "(But) a gay character in the most popular series in the world is a big step for Jo Rowling and for gay rights."

Gellert Grindelwald was a dark wizard of great power, who terrorized people much in the same way Harry's nemesis, Lord Voldemort, was to do a generation later. Readers hear of him in the first book, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," in a reference to how Dumbledore defeated him. In "Deathly Hallows," readers learn they once had been best friends.

"Neither Dumbledore nor Grindelwald ever seems to have referred to this brief boyhood friendship in later life,'" Rowling writes. "However, there can be no doubt that Dumbledore delayed, for some five years of turmoil, fatalities, and disappearances, his attack upon Gellert Grindelwald. Was it lingering affection for the man or fear of exposure as his once best friend that caused Dumbledore to hesitate?"

As a young man, Dumbledore, brilliant and powerful, had been forced to return home to look after his mentally ill younger sister and younger brother. It was a task he admits to Harry that he resented, because it derailed the bright future he had been looking forward to.

Then Grindelwald, described by Rowling as "golden-haired, merry-faced," arrived after having been expelled from his own school. Grindelwald's aunt, Bathilda Bagshot, says of their meeting: "The boys took to each other at once." In a letter to Grindelwald, Dumbledore discusses their plans for gaining wizard dominance: "'(I)f you had not been expelled we would never have met.'"

Potter readers had speculated about Dumbledore, noting that he has no close relationship with women and a mysterious, troubled past.

"Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said Friday of Dumbledore's feelings about Grindelwald, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down."

Dumbledore's love, she observed, was his "great tragedy."

___

Associated Press writer Deepti Hajela contributed to this story from New York.

so i heard that n.a's have wide feet and a straight nose. well i have those traits and my dad always says that his mother was native american. so that would make me like 1/4 native american. IF my dad is telling the truth. he's notorious for joking around. but, since i had strangely wide feet. highcheek bones and a straight nose, i though i'd look up some other traits of native americans....

omg. googling is done. this is what ive found:

lazy eyes in young children. <<--- i (unfortunately) had that!!!
High cheek bones <<--check . check.
almond shaped eyes. <--not sure.
"Shovel" teeth, the teeth have a ledge on the backside. Run your tongue across them, they feel almost like a shovel shape <- check . hahaha
Large heavy earlobes <<-- nope.
i have tiny ears. with tiny earlobes.
Crooked pinkies. <- somewhat...
inverted breast bone <- never noticed it, my boobs seem normal??? lol i dont know....
Little toes that lie under the next ones <- yes, slightly.
Alcoholism <- yup runs on both sides of the families. partially the reason i dont drink.

freakin huge baby.

so, its like 12 30 am right now. i really should be asleep. but i just seen the craziest thing on tv.

and i googled it so i could find an article to post on here. Its basically just about the a really large newborn.. like 17 pounds worth of huge baby. ouch.

This article came from http://baby.families.com/blog/common-health-issues-for-big-babies

29 Sep 2007 08:19 AM

Common Health Issues for Big Babies

by Valorie Delp |

On September 17, Russia saw its largest baby ever, weighing in at 17.1 pounds. My twins were full term, born at exactly 40 weeks, and their weight was a combined 14 pounds. I can tell you that I cannot fathom another 3 pounds of baby. To top it off, that's not the largest baby ever born. The Guiness Book of World Records shows the largest baby ever born weighing in at a whopping 29.23 pounds. That baby died just a few hours after birth due to respiratory complications. The largest living baby ever born weighed 22.5 pounds.

Aside from thinking of that poor mother carrying around that much baby, large babies often are accompanied by serious health problems. Little Nadezhda (the 17 pound infant born in Russia earlier this month) is no exception.

LGA and What Causes It

LGA (large for gestational age) is a term used to describe babies whose birth weight is higher than the 90th percentile. (Meaning that the baby ways more than 90% of the babies born at the same gestational age.) Most LGA babies are born full term but preemies may also be labeled as LGA.

The vast majority of LGA babies are born to mothers with gestational diabetes. However, genetics and diet during pregnancy also play a part.

Why Are LGA Babies a Concern

One obvious concern is that an LGA baby is associated with a difficult delivery. Most LGA babies are born via cesarean. However, because most LGA babies are born to mothers with diabetes, health problems in the baby are often related to glucose regulation.

Difficulties include hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) after birth, respiratory distress, increased incidence of birth defects, and hyperbilirubinemia (jaundice).

The important thing to remember is that LGA babies can generally be prevented by proper diet during pregnancy, and a careful watch on sugar intake.
