Why an Online Diary?
What is an open diary, anyway?
An open diary is different for everybody who keeps one. What we give you is a free space where you can post as much or as little as you want, as often as you want, either publicly, just for your friends, or privately just for you.
Writing your diary or journal online is a great way to help figure out your life, find your purpose, put some order to your thoughts, and meet new people.
People use their ODs for a lot of different things - to keep a personal history,
to work out issues in their lives, to help them quit smoking or get in shape, to post their own poetry or stories - Open Diary is full of real-life stories of people from around the world.
Is this the same as a blog?
We don't think so - we think it is something more. While people usually write blogs for an audience of other people to read,
OD members generally write their diaries for themselves - having all the other friendly, supportive people here to read it is just a bonus.
Most people find the community experience at OD to be much different (and better) than just keeping a blog somewhere out in the online wilderness.
