I have loved and lost. I have had the best and the worst. I have triumphed and been utterly defeated. I have stood tall and have been humiliated. I have been strong and then beaten beyond recognition. This is why I am the way I am. Out of the flames that burned and traped me, I have walked out a new creature and have new eyes to see life with. Knowing now the constant struggle that it is, I know my place and what I must do. To take that next step is the hardest and loneliest. To wallow in defeat is easy, to get out of the pit is a story that hardly any can write.

This journal is a place for me to explain and show who I am, what I'm not, and why.  This is the beginnings of Shaeann McKain.
