Hi. My name is Jude. Legally, I'm now Judith Miquela B. I used to have a guy name. I am a transsexual, and have recently transitioned from living as a guy (which I did for 54 years) to living and working as a woman.
This diary has documented my progress in my journey from male to female, as I transitioned to living as a woman. The beginnings were a long time coming, and I anticipate it will take 2-5 years to complete (if such a journey is ever actually completed). (*edit* - Actually, now, I don't think the journey ever ends. There's always new realizations. It's fascinating.) I start in June, 2005, and it's now late 2009. I'm currently 50 51 52 53 54 years old. A bit late to be starting, but that's my version of this journey. In some ways, I wasn't ready before, now, the universe is aligning.
I've now gone full time, I have transitioned. I've gotten the legal name change, drivers license, social security card, security clearance, all updated. I could not have done it without my Sweety, and keep reminding her of that.
Part of the purpose of this diary is to try and get folks to understand that transgender and transsexual folks are not weird or sick. Different, yes, but not necessarily in a bad way. Please do not think "Ru Paul", do not think sex workers. Most transgender/transsexual folks are not like that. Just regular folks, trying to have a good life, trying to have a better quality life. I know some who refer to it as "the blessing". More on that later.
My transgenderism cost me my first marriage, which was probably a blessing in disguise, but my current spouse is more supportive than I could have possibly believed, and we are planning to stay together throughout and afterwards.
I do have 2 kids, who haven't been told yet. Read about it as it happens!
Borrowing a great idea from SM:
