So it's been a busy few weeks for me, with very little sign of it tapering off (except for this lovely snowstorm we have here in the Northeast--and I say that sincerely, I love the snow!). This blizzard is the reason for my plans for today falling through, which is not a bad thing because I really didn't want to have to schlep myself to Long Island for boring-a-hole-in-my-skull conversation with various members of my family. (no offense to any family members but, I can only take so much commentary on how I should try to make myself look more presentable by tweezing my eyebrows or getting a manicure) :-P Last night was great though! I went to another gallery opening for a friend of mine, W. It was a pretty entertaining evening. I was afraid people would be deterred by the weather, but the turnout was better than I expected. W sold quite a few paintings (Two of which I picked up myself). And going back to the title, what I got was the soul of an artist, just not the talent of one. Seriously, I met so many talented people; it was humbling for me, I think. On the way to the gallery, I got to play tour guide for these people I met on the train going downtown. They were from Florida and were fairly impressed by the Friday afternoon-5:00- during bad weather crowd. Added to that was a track fire on the express line, so all trains were running on the local track with confusing service as a result. All in a day's work for the MTA, I would say. I should definitely buckle down and start preparing for finals--they start this coming week all the way to December 23rd (yeah, I was not exactly happy to hear I have three exams scheduled for that day--I only managed to get one moved) :-( Studiously, ~slim5
