Tradition 12/22/2003

We used to have a tradtion...I remember it well when I was little. We always had this big platfor my dad would put up...sat bout 3 feet of the ground was round 6 foot long. The tree would go on top and around the tree was my dad's prized posession, his train, and in the middle went the tree.  When we would get up in the morning mom would always have some kind of good morning breakfast for us, although we were always too excited to eat.  We would always get up extra early to open gifts and then family would stop by randomly during the day.  Around dinner time we would always go to my grandparents house to eat dinner.  Good times...but times have changed.

Once we moved I guess out tradition would be to go over to neighbor Dale's and get a tree that was always way to big for our living room...it would take up at least half and we could never get all the furniture in decent order.

Now my tradition is to go home...I will eat with my dad and brother then go to my mom's for a bit and then out to the Raybuck's for Christmas dinner.  It's nice to sit down with all of them because it reminds me of the big family dinners we used to have.  It seems so sad today that not many families are like that anymore...I find myself running around on the holidays..Finding my brothers wherever they may be...calling around to all my family members to wish happy holidays...It would be nice if we could all go back and have dinner together as one big family...but things change I suppose..and we just deal...but it's nice to remember.

Tradition is always important. Wishing you a happy holiday, whomever you spend it with and whatever you do. And here's hoping "Santa" is good to you this year. *wink*  [alma gemela] 12/22/2003 3:35:40 AM
