Beijing (Part I) Thursday, November 24, 2005

Pieces of feelings should be jotted down here asap before I forget.

Having spent my past 10 days in Beijing and this is my 1st time visiting the capital of my own country.

“Howz the feeling towards this city?” I have always been asked the same question by those new friends I met.

Generally speaking, this city isn’t really special to me and juz as common as I expect before the trip. Beijing is a multi-national and mixed city with different varieties of lives. But some areas are unexpectedly disappointing in the way that I couldn’t fully enjoy my trip.

Traffic jam is a serious problem that happens in every developed areas – Beijing has no exception. My fd and I had stuck on the road for at least an hour every nite when we hanged out for dinner. Wuts more, it took me 2 hrs from the city centre to the airport yesterday bcoz of the arrival of stupid Bush. Remembered the taxi driver complained “Bush’s time is time but ours aren’t”. It’s funny and really ‘to-the-point’.

Wouldn’t forget the times my colleague and I spent together on the Beijing MTR everyday from our hotel to the World Trade Centre. Priority wont be given to those passengers who want to getting off from the train. Ironic still, trains are so packed near the doors while the central part of each compartment is full of space. Sigh~~~

Beijingers are always having ‘big noses’ and discriminate against the Asians. Example, say, we once had a dinner buffet at the Karrie Centre which is a 5-star hotel owned and managed by the Shangri-La group. We can hardly believe that the services that shitty to the local people / Asians. We tried to take a cab back to our hotel after dinner. The bell guy juz ignored us and served merely the foreigners…WTH…are u kidding me man? We are not in 1985 Beijing but 2005!!! “I NEED A CAB”, I said firmly. I m not intent to give him any hard time but to express my disappointment by asking him why foreigners have the privilege to 1st get on the cab while we had to kept waiting.

Too sleepy, stop here 1st….will continue soon~~
