House of the sick Saturday, July 04, 2009

I hadn't realised just how long it had been since I've updated! Oh my gosh, so much has been happening around here it's rediculous.  Firstly Ava got sick a month ago with gastro of all things, and had to be hospitalised for 24 hours. That was an ordeal. Then 2 days later I got it and was flat out for a week. 3 days sick, 3 days recovery because I had NO energy after the symptoms passed. Tyler got it for 12 hours, and was only sick once!! Little bugger. Tim got it as well, and the older 2 didn't get a sniff of it. Thank God they didn't get it though because I was just so totally out of it I could barely keep on breastfeeding.  Ava lost 150g in 2 weeks, but she's since put it back on. (She's a little peanut for her age, but perfect. She was 3 months almost a week ago. And she's just over 5 kgs and 56.5cms long.)

Since then, the washing machine broke, the water heater bit the dust, the computer internals and screen screwed up, and the clothes line has bent in half. I have also had to buy a new bunk bed for Tyler and Jayden because Ava is going to be too big for her bassinette in a few months (or even less) and she'll need Tylers cot! So our bank accound has been going lower and lower and lower. But I suppose that's what savings are for.

I got a super deal on a new washing machine. It's a front loader Electrolux (8kg capacity) and it's a ultra silencer. It was the stand out machine as tested by choice. AND I got it almost 50% off as a factory second. It's RRP is almost $1700 I got it for $950. Bargain. It's been fantastic. The clothes have never looked or smelled cleaner and it is SO gentle. Uses hardly any water or detergent. It's fantastic. The bunk beds I ordered from Bunkers and it's a lowline bunk so it's ALOT safer than standard ones. Fortunately the water heater only needed a new fuse so that was relatively cheap. I had to get an LCD screen and got a pretty good deal. It's a 20' wide screen and I'm still trying to get used to it, but it's better than the other crappy thing we had.

Anyway. Moving on. Tyler is talking up a storm. He's coming out with new words every single day. He's mimicking what I say and is finally starting to talking in sentences. He's a little slower than the others to talk but is so advanced for problem solving and things. He can tell me the alphabet and recognises all the letters. He knows his shapes and animals. He ADORES Ashley and Jayden. Him and Jayden have really started to bond really tightly. It's so sweet to watch. I can tell they'll be friends for life. And he really looks up to Ashley as a big sister/little mummy.

Ava is a sweet little angel! She's just a perfect baby. She just does not give me any trouble at all. She's smiling ALL the time and just so happy to be with me. She'll cry if she's left alone she just loves to be with her family. Usually she wakes once or twice for a feed during the night. She has NEVER had an unsettled night as far as I can remember. She honestly has just fit in perfectly with the family. In the bath she just goes off. She squeals and laughs and kicks around like she's having the time of her life. I have so many photos but none uploaded on the internet yet.

Mum and Dad got back from America the week we were sick which was a month ago. I am SOOO happy they're back. They had to keep their distance around us because of the threat of the swine flu. I think it's been blown out of proportion majorly though.

Ashley is in primary (3rd Grade) and gave her first lecturette in front of the class. She had to talk about an Australian Explorer, and she chose William Lawson. She used palm cards and had pretty much learned it off my heart. I used to DIE if I had to do speeches, but she enjoyed it. Apparently she was given extra marks because she gave alot of eye contact with the audience and she was very clear and spoke very well. I'm so proud of her. She has so much more confidence than I EVER did at school.

Anyway, I'm going to try to update more often. But do I have the time? not really, but I'll still try!
