So it's been forever since I've written. I guess if you have me on facebook you're already completely caught up and you already know you haven't missed much ;) For those that don't have me on facebook....
Aidan: Aidan finished the school year out with straight A's. He was accepted into the gifted and talented math program for next year. He'll be in 4th grade but will be in 6th grade math!! AMAZING! Because he'll be in GT math he has a math packet that he is supposed to get done before the start of school. I haven't made him do it yet, but I really need to. He's put on a bit of weight this spring/summer. I really blame all the steriods he was on for his allergies. Roy blames him not going outside to play. I can't believe he's going into 4th grade! Where does time go? Austin: Austin finished off the year also with straight A's! He also finished off the year above grade level in math! So he'll be in 2nd grade and will be in 3rd grade math! Avery: I think the last I posted I was going for Avery's IEP meeting at the school. Well I got 90% of what I wanted. He keeps his IEP for next year and will continue to get his speech services 3 times a week for 30 minutes each. We've kept his social/emotional goals and he will go into the 4 year preschool class. This class is a little different as he'll now go 5 days a week in the afternoons. It will have more kids and is more structured. This is the year we'll really find out how he'll be able to handle everything. It makes me really nervous, but I keep telling myself he has come SO far! He finally is now POTTY TRAINED!!!! We haven't had any problems in MONTHS! It's been awesome and he really caught on quickly once he finally "got it" His therapy is another issue entirely. The place he goes to for therapy has really irked me lately. First he lost his OT services when the OT therapist left the company in November and they were supposed to replace her and never did. Then his social therapist left the company also in January and she was replaced by an ABA therapist. In March the ABA therapist left the company and she was never replaced. Now I'm driving 45 minutes each way for a 40 minute speech therapy session. Twice a week. SO not worth it for me. I know he needs the therapy though, and I just haven't had the time to find a new therapy place, and in the same breath I don't think it's fair to keep changing his therapists!!!! So I don't want to find a new one for him. Andrew: Andrew is 8 months old! I can't believe he's already so old. He is just starting to try to crawl and looks like an inch worm trying to get around. He's hitting milestones about a month late which is completely normal being born a month early. I feel like I missed out on so much of Andrew's "infant" stages. First because of him being in the NICU. All those first nights of snuggling and bonding and nursing. The first 2 weeks of caring for him (changing, bathing, feeding etc etc). When he DID get home Roy had already spent his leave time while Andrew was in the NICU so he was back at work and I was with all the kids. Which didn't give me any bonding time with him either. He spent most of his next few weeks in the swing or on the bed while I dealt with the other boys. Just makes me sad. But I'll pull up my big girl panties and get over it. Enjoy the time we have right? Try not to think about what we've lost. The boys adore Andrew and as hard as it has been with 4 I don't regret it at all. August is going to be a really busy month for us. The boys go back to school the 31st, and before then we have my nephew's birthday party this saturday. We are also going to be taking the boys to the county fair this saturday. Next weekend is Roy's birthday, and Sunday we plan to meet my family at Cunningham Falls for a BBQ and fun. The following weekend we are taking the boys to Hershey Park. And the week after that they boys start school! Time is just flying! I wish someone would slow the world down for just a while.
