spring clean-up/throw out! Friday, April 18, 2008

so justin and i have been uber busy lately. my grandpa did end up passing away. he passed on april 6th, and we left with my family on the 7th. justin and i rode down with my parents, and kenton rode down with ryan, steph and the kids. we had thought at one time, depending on when grandpa passed that we might be able to take alex, but since he passed on a sunday, alex would miss the whole week of school, so since we aren't his only parents, we opted to leave him at home, although if you ask him he might tell you he made that decision. thats one of the fun things about being a (step)parent. we knew that we werent going to take him, but we phrased the question and he decided that it would be better to go to school. its kinda like we are empowering him already to make good decisions. fun. he said the sweetest thing after we told him grandpa in kentucky died. he said "well, when i'm a grown up i'm going to tell my kids 'i used to have a grandpa in kentucky, but he died". it was so sweet and so innocent and wonderful. i loved it. i love him. and i love that he is so genuine and caring. in other alex news, he has been diagnosed with adhd, and put on adderal. he doesn't take it while we have him on the weekends, although he might start taking in sundays because of church. we'll see...he is doing much much much better in school, staying on green and not disrupting the class. yay.

when we got back justin was sick, he had pneumonia! he is still coughing ALOT, but he is feeling much better. we are both back at work. ugh. not fun. the other day we started our spring cleaning. we have tons of stuff to do because this house is a mess. first of all the people who lived here never really clean cleaned, then they died. secondly the people who were supposed to clean never showed up so we moved into a yucky house. we still have some of their junk here that didn't get auctioned. we've decided to either trash it or freecycle it, depending on the quality of the item. we have junk in the garage and on the porch out here. i'd love to be able to use this  porch, so i need to hurry it up. after we get the porch all cleared, then we'll fix the door, and then we'll have a front door that we can use that has a doorbell!! i've never had a door bell before.

yesterday we started trashing a bunch of stuff in the garage. we also started clearing the weeds that  are surrounding the house. the people had a few bushes and things, and i'm *hoping* to get some more out there and make it all pretty and homey. we also dug up a huge dead tree plant thing. it was pretty gross and went really deep....i'm glad the bush thing is gone. oh, we also found a small black and white tv in the garage from the 70s. we turned it on and it worked! we got one station, channel 8, so we listened to the news, seinfeld, and access hollywood while we worked in the garage and outside. it was so fun. i like having a tv in the garage.

we've been watching lost pretty much nonstop since we dont have cable. soooooo crazy. i <3 lost.

well, i need to be working on our list. gotta get crackin on that again!!

I love what Alex said! :O) Such a cutie pie! :O)

Spring cleaning can be very cathartic. It's nice to get rid of things and make a fresh new start into the season. And that will be nice when the porch is available so that when silly people like me come and ring your doorbell you won't have to be like, "There's no door there!!!" LOL :O) Have fun enjoying the great outdoors! :O) [GoolayGirl]

Got to love Freecycle. It sounds daft but I didn't realise you had it over there.

Sorry to hear about your granddad.
