About the gay marriage act 4/21/2005

The ban gay marriage amendment is wrong. We should not restrict rights on fellow U.S. citizens. They have done nothing wrong to receive such punishment. All you conservatives need to stop bickering about gay people wanting to get married. What if it was reversed and straight people couldn't get married and it was the way for gay people to get married according to the bible? Now wouldn't you want to get married and get those benefits marriage gives you. And on with the bible, it is common knowledge that when we set up this government that there was to be a seperation of state and religion. What happened to that idea with all those fanatics out there claiming gay marriage is wrong and they are basing it solely on a book. They believe this book is god's word and the truth when we have no evidence of that what so ever. Stop basing your hate towards gay people using religous backed answers. Since they want this to be an amendment why are they still talking about religion? Religion goes that way and state/government stuff goes the other way. Conservatives stop saying that your morals that you base on the bible and religion make your decision that gay marriage is wrong. I know I would want to be able to get married to the person I loved and recieve those wonderful benefits. I've also heard that it would cost us more money and people would do it just to get benefits. Just think of how many straight marriages benefits the governent pays for already? How can we deny people equal rights? Straight people do it already by getting married solely to get benefits so no more of that crap. America is a democratic nation for a reason people. We need to move into the future and that is where we would move with a democratic president or even better yet, someone maybe who understand politics and bettering the nation than Bush. It doesn't have to be a democratic president, but someone who will make us a better country, more united and not make us worse. We need to bring the United States back to being the best country in the world....we are not even close any more guys. Read this article about how the U.S. is not even close to being the best country any more: http://citypages.com/databank/26/1264/article12985.asp. Keep religion out of politics congressman and other politicians. If you want to talk religious stuff, go be a priest, pastor, rabbi, nun or something else. America was first constructed with the bill of rights obviously to give the citizens rights, so why may I ask is Bush having an amendment to the constiution to take away rights that they didn't have in the first place. We should re-write the amendment as to allow gay marriage to happen. It should not be up to us straight people to decide the fates of gay lovers who want to get married, it should be up to them. We only live one life, and everybody wants the same thing: happiness. If being married to a gay person makes that person happy, why should we deny them that right? I won't be one to stand in their way, and neither should you. I don't base my beliefs and morales on a book, I base it upon what I think is better for all. I am not a person who thinks of the small picture and only lives to better myself, I want everyone to be better. Our congressman should be more like that, to want a better country. Base your beliefs on what will help our nation to be better and not for selfish reasons, or for what a book says is right or wrong. If I wrote a book today claiming I know what god's law is and I am his son or know him personally, there is almost no way people would believe. So get your heads out of your asses, stop letting a book (the bible), priests, pastors, rabbis, the pope, and other religious leaders corrupt your mind. We need to bring our nation together as one. Our division between democratic and republicans is nonsense. Bush was not the clear cut winner, he barely won 50%, there was not true winner in the past election. I know I wouldn't feel satisfied with roughly half the nation not voting for me.

President Bush needs to get his priorities straight. He needs to pull those troops out of Iraq and leave those people alone. He needs to start promoting hybrid cars, electric cars, solar powered cars and more fuel efficient vehicles and other efficient items. We are supposedly in a modern time, but Bush seems to want us to go back to the '50s, where he would be more comftorable. We've been dependable on oil from the middle east far too long. We waste so much money each year on oil, that we could make each car cleaner and more efficient with that money and become less dependable on the middle east. Bush being used to being spoiled as a child, is still today a spoiled brat. He needs to think about the better for America and not the better for himself. Leaders else where are just as bad as Saddam Hussein, is Bush going to go country to country, taking our family members for the ride to die for a cowboy that cares nothing about them and only for himself? I know I'm not prepared to die for an unworthy candidate for president and be that unworthy for being a good person period. Maybe if the president right now was Abraham Lincoln, he would be a more highly qualified president and I would consider dying for that man if it was the Civil War. Bush is taking our family members into pointless "wars" and letting them die while he sits back at his big ass ranch and drinks a lemonade. He wanted to go to war, so I say let him go to war. Bush is not a true leader, if he wanted to go to war with Iraq and Afghanistan, why wasn't he there on the battlefield with "his" men. He is the commander in chief, but he sits at home at his ranch while citizens fight a stupid war for this cowboy. I know I don't want to be drafted with the liklihood that the draft will be re-instated. I'm sure Bush will gladly say the equality thing and women can be drafted also. I am not a highly religious person, but I hope to God that Bush does not re-instated the draft and continue his irrational brigade. I see myself still as more an independent or being in the middle, although I've become more democratic over the years especially since Bush has been in office. Bush alone gives me reasons not to be republican. Leave the Alaskan ANWR alone, stop drilling and start investing in things that will improve our rapid consumption of oil/gas. Also, protect our wildlife, especially the rainforests, I know I like breathing so leave them alone. Not only do the rainforets produce lots of oxygen, but they are beautiful. I encourage Bush to stop chopping down our rainforests, make every car hybrid, cut down on pollution and do anything in his power to make our nation better and greater.

With that said for now, Bush is a illegitimate president, and should therefore forfeit himself from presidency and take cheney with him. We need a leader who will lead us into the future, now back! Make wise decisions when choosing who to vote into political powers. I still can't believe I used to say to my friend that Bush isn't that bad and don't make fun of him for being a bad speaker and for being dumb. But now I realize that he shouldn't be president with the bad qualities he has. Bush is finally out of power, he will soon be forgotten as he should be. Except maybe for his dumb decisions and bad speeches, those will surely last a while. I'm just counting the time by until Bush is out of here and hope that I will be alive by the end of his Reign of terror! We are a free nation, giving equality to all, lets keep it that way and not put restrictions on what our forefathers created and instead add more rights!
