G, at the Smithsonian Castle. 2012.
Shingles. Starting in his left eye. So not only did we start at the clinic, we moved on later in the day to the Opthalmologist’s. He is contagious and in pain. The disease may take up to a year to finish. I feel so terrible for him.
- Keeping those on the east coast in my thoughts and donating where it will count.
- Himself: Saw doctor’s, took all the meds, slept.
- Herself: Worrying. Took him here, worked, took him there. The only relief from the pain is sleep, the doc told him. He can have the shot after six months. I cancelled everything I could and rescheduled everything else.
- Reading: Finished “Polaris.” Moving on to the new Vorkosigan volume by Boujold.
- Balance: Reading.

Oh no! Such a rotten disease, and can be so long-lasting. A friend here has recently had shingles, beginning in her eye; it sounded very painful. However, it has now apparently completely passed. I hope that G also recovers quickly. [Arbi]

Poor Geeezer .. I haven't had it, but I belive it is very painful. My late m-i-l-, a Stoic, told me she'd sobbed with the pain. I hope it is eased soon ... what a bummer. A bloke at work got it and people were most unsympathetic .. they think it is just a rash. [balansert]

I am so sorry to hear this--not good. Wondering if you have had the shot? I had it after I saw what K has had go through--twice but never in the eye, sounds heartrening, even to think about. Does this rule out pain meds? K had patches and those helped the second time around so much.
A friend of mine had them in her vagina--that was the info that sent me running to find someone who had the shingles vaccine...it was early in the advice to have it and few doctors had it available. Had it from the county clinic. Hope you have, too. [Sago]

Just a random vagabond from the OD front page.
Did he not get the shot? If you haven't, please do. This disease is unnecessary.
I hope he recovers fully very soon.
Be well.

This is going to sound very strange, but it worked for me. I've had Shingles twice ... the second time I saw a Chiropractor for the pain and he did an adjustment and I was immediately better. It took two visits, but the pain went away and hasn't returned. The premise is that the nerve endings are irritated and the adjustments realign things. I don't know if this is the full explanation of the how and why that it works, but trust me that it does. I had several people recommend it to me before I tried it. Tell G that I do feel for him, having had them on my face, neck and upper body. :/ [Tehachap]
