24: Hacked Saturday, November 24, 2012

The Vagaries of life….it appears our primary email address has been hacked. I apologize to any of you who got unwanted email. G is hard at work solving the problem. While he does that, I’m going to write here then bring down all the red holiday ornaments for the tree. It’s get rid of worn, tired, unused trinkets, and maybe a few other colors too.

For many years starting in the early 80’s, certainly in an over-reaction to leaving behind the ornaments from my childhood, I have been over-compensating and buying stuff for the tree. Now for the past three or four years, I have been reversing the trend. Last year, I donated all the blue’s we wouldn’t use again. The green’s are gone. This year I’m diving into the reds.

We will see how successful both of us are with our projects by the end of the day.

  • Keeping those on the east coast in my thoughts and donating where it will count.

  • Himself: Docenting for the first time since he got sick.

  • Herself: Sorting ornaments and books. Another estate came in, and giant boxes of books cover the work area in back.

  • Reading: Same as yesterday.

  • Balance: Yesterday at work. I was so busy that I never got to the mountains of books..

I'm thinking of getting rid of some of my holiday decorations this year also. It will be the perfect opportunity with my niece here helping me next Saturday. Don't work too hard today! [gel] 11/24/2012 11:51:10 AM

Sorry you got hacked. What a hassle. I congratulate you on your ornament retirement work-I haven't had the courage to go there yet.  [zipster] 11/24/2012 11:59:34 AM
Thank you for that beautiful photo. [LightButHearty] 11/24/2012 12:39:21 PM
I see you in the top two balls! [woman in the moon] 11/24/2012 1:02:01 PM
Both worthy projects! [BonnieRose] 11/24/2012 1:23:55 PM
Remember when hacking refered to a cough ? [ThomaS] 11/24/2012 2:19:21 PM
I think my decorations may go out the door when I start purging the storage room.  [Tornado] 11/24/2012 2:38:35 PM
Still hanging on to my kids' kindergarten offerings on our christmas tree. [TrilliumZen] 11/24/2012 2:47:21 PM
How frustrating to have your e-mail address hacked! Several times I've received e-mails, apparently from friends, but some stranger has been using their address to send me advertising. Is that what has happened to your address, I wonder? [Arbi] 11/24/2012 4:05:27 PM
Hope the hacking issue is resolved. The reds should look nice with your new red color scheme. [lelis] 11/24/2012 5:16:34 PM
changing his password will do a lot of good. as will debriding your collection of ornaments. [oulin] 11/24/2012 6:33:18 PM
I think a friend's Hotmail account was hacked recently; I'm getting spam at a new address that I've only used to write to him, and worse, I'm getting spam that uses my private signature in the subject line. The implication is that a spammer is actually READING the email in my friend's inbox. Which is kind of horrible. [Kimber] 11/24/2012 6:37:05 PM
I hope G can sort it...what a nuisance.

That really stinks your mail got hacked. I've gotten some crazy mails from friends who have had the same thing happen to them. I can usually tell by the subject line and time it was mailed out as to if it is legit or not. I have so many of the family ornaments that no one really cares about anymore....have not decorated a tree in many years... [brickpaver] 11/25/2012 7:15:09 AM
what a tedious PIA hacking is. hope it's solved soon! [+Pelican] 11/25/2012 11:17:18 AM
Ugh. That hacking thing is never fun :( So sorry it happened to you.

We gave the kids all of our Christmas decorations when we moved from San Diego. When we were in AZ these past 2 months, we had to go out and buy lights to go around the park model carport cover. I had brought a welcome flag from home but that was all. Step-MIL brought over a ceramic Christmas tree ... we rarely thought to lite it.  [Tehachap] 1/8/2013 8:06:48 PM
