Peace and Quiet for the Weekend Monday, June 18, 2012

I did enjoy my weekend off. I got to the two days off legitimately through hard work and was glad for the respite. I spent Saturday dozing, watching some quilting/sewing programs on PBS, reading and finishing a book and starting another. I enjoyed every minute of the deep sleeps I fell into--some seemed hours long and dream-filled that turned out to have lasted only 10 minutes!

I have been awake and alert most of today, Sunday, since 8am. I got the kitchen cleaned, swept the rug, dusted a bit, cleaned the litterbox, brushed Daisy and thought about brushing Lou. The high note of the 2 hour luncheon floated me into the weekend nicely.

I got my pre-book e-mail taken care of mid-afternoon and feel I am well prepared for the week to come. What will it bring? The only thing I am hoping for is sunshine. Everything else will happen as it happens. I am determined to shower up, suit up, show up and see what the Universe brings me. I am to have an office day Monday and will start out there.

I have been tooling around the web this evening. I came upon a website that has very simple and straightforward instructions on how to make a wind generator that will recharge a 12 volt battery. SO simple! Really, I think I can do it, truly.

The website addy is: www.thediyworld.com/table-fan-generator.html/

This is exciting! Simple and effective. I must get Hub to do this so that I can see how it powers my quilt trailer!

In other news, Hub found out Friday but didn't tell me until this afternoon, that he was not hired for the maintenance job at the school. This job is not janitor, but maintenance and repair of the boiler, plumbing, electricity, building, lawn, and vehicles for the school. He got to meet Jeff T, the main man in charge of the school, not principal, I forget his title..... when he went to pick up an application. He had a nice chat with Jeff and told him he had been passed over for the job a few years ago and was extremely disappointed not to get an interview or even a call or letter that the position had been filled.

Hub called Friday and spoke with Jeff. He was evasive (of course he was if for no other reason than he is an administrator of a public institution) but said that they interviewed 2 people and hired one. Jeff told Hub that both candidates had college degrees and that this was an important factor in an educational facility in setting a good example for the children about higher education.

What BULLSHIT!!! Explain to me what incentive it would be for a child to go to college when the child sees someone who did doing mechanical maintenance on building systems and vehicles??? "Go to college, spend tens of thousands of dollars so that you too can have this $17 an hour job!" Ri-i-i-i-i-ght.

I have no other news really. Daughter's furniture was to arrive in Belton on Saturday. I haven't heard anything about that. Daughter was on a Delta flight leaving Wichita around 3pm or so going to, I think, Wisconsin. Returning from that, they will be going to Texas to begin looking for space in malls for the stores that will be opened by franchisees there. The children are in Wichita, staying nights with their grandparents and spending days with the nannie Traci loved in Manhattan who is now living in Wichita.

I'm going down to take a shower and wash my hair. One less thing I will have to do tomorrow--the hair. Likely will take another shower to wake up tomorrow morning. Will take the dogs down to potty and then let them in for the night. Tuff-cat is still downstairs, he was sleeping in the bathroom according to Hub when he came upstairs and Tuff didn't want to move. I'll let him up.

Oh, both dogs were raising Cain yesterday, barking feroceously! I went on the deck to see what in the world had them so riled up. Nothing, well, no, they were barking at the neighbor dog! WTF? They don't bark at the neighbor dog(s)--there are 3 big dogs to the west of us plus a medium Yorkie... The large white dog next door was wearing a huge white collar thingie around his neck, the kind the vet puts on so the dog won't get at an incision--a cone, that's what it was a CONE!

The dogs were barking at the strange dog in the neighbor's yard with the cone around its neck!!! See, I told you, the other dogs in the neighborhood DO make fun of the dog with the cone head!

A great weekend, back to it tomorrow,

Blessed be!

canine bullying! Ah, glad to hear you are feeling better after a bit of rest. Very best, A [Ainetheon] 6/18/2012 3:40:56 AM

cone head...hahaha! [Redcat] 6/18/2012 11:21:36 AM
a degree for boiler maintenance? did he consider hiring a pilot to for when it flys off the handle? [oulin] 6/18/2012 12:23:37 PM
The institution I work for is like that about college degrees now too. You want to work in the laundry, cafeteria, mailroom? You have to have a degree. It is so frustrating and bizarre.

I do like the idea of that wind generator battery charger deal.

That is kind of funny about the cone dog. In an awww, poor guy sort of way. [noko]

How horrible for your husband! I can't help but wonder if it's not sympathy for college debt fueling some of the assisine job placements in recent years. [JeniDancer] 6/20/2012 2:03:01 AM
