A Few Thoughts Saturday, June 09, 2012

  • Putting off  the trip to NC until September  gave me the incentive I needed to buy the tickets. I had to laugh as I did so today. How come I can buy tickets for September and I just couldn't bring myself to do it for this month!
  • I also bought groceries today. I find myself doing as I used to do---looking for little treats for Fred. I had a packet of apple cider donuts in my cart before I realized that I don't like them...
  • Amazon has great customer service. I accidentally clicked on a $10 ebook today and I told them I had bought it accidentally. It had disappeared from my Kindle by this evening and I will have the money back in a few days.
  • I am still taking an hour to an hour-and-a-half nap every afternoon. It must be what my body needs since I have no problem sleeping at night.
  • The new tenant upstairs seems like a very nice person. He cleaned away the trash trees growing up against my deck but left the big ferns which I like. He is also quiet. He plays music but not loudly. I can faintly hear the beat but not the music.
  • I am making an effort to cook at least a couple of meals a week. Having said that, I had salsa and chips for supper tonight.

I just tracked down a strange noise...It was a couple of kids walking up the road and bouncing basket balls as they did so!

As one's fortunes are reduced, one's spirit must expand to fill the void.

I think if I lived alone, I would gravitate toward "snack eating" because I don't like fixing meals. But you've made a good point that I will be more cognizant of.

The bonus of putting off your trip till September is that tickets will be cheaper than they are now just for booking that far in advance. [Starting Over]

I've been doing a lot of snack eating myself lately..

*hugs*.. I've been thinking of you and am glad that you are taking care of yourself.  [raeven]

it is so gratifying when I figure out a mysterious noise! :)  [Princess Buttercup] 6/9/2012 8:01:34 PM
September is a good time to travel...outside the regular tourist season when prices are higher. [LightButHearty] 6/9/2012 8:04:38 PM
I have to say, the sound of bouncing balls drives me crazy. I guess it stems from living next door to a family with several teenage sons and a basketball hoop attached to the front of their garage. I would hear that ball bouncing incessantly all day long. The other day I was in the grocery store and a boy was walking with his father, bouncing a ball the entire time. It's a big store but I could never seem to get away from them. It amazed me that the father didn't realize how irritating it was for other customers to listen to it. But then I thought, well, he probably hears it every day and he is able to tune it out.

Nothing wrong with an afternoon nap, especially if you're sleeping ok at night. In fact, that nap sounds pretty good! [Elan]

I agree about the customer service of Amazon. I've had to call on behalf of my employer because he's done the same thing a few times when order books for his kindle, or requesting hard copies. [JeniDancer] 6/10/2012 1:32:12 AM
When I lived alone there were nights I'd just pop a bag of poprocn and be done with it! I can't get away with that here, as it sets a bad example for the kinder...but I'm with you~ Doing what your bady needs is a wise thing. All of us need to learn to do that... Love you! ~M [Mezzo] 6/10/2012 6:58:50 AM
I had garlic cheese and crackers with a side of chocolate cupcake for dinner. Yep...living alone has it's privledges!

things change. it took me several months of grocery shopping on my own before i stopped buying things raymond liked. now, i just buy for me. sometimes, it still feels odd to not buy certain things. go ahead and take your nap. as long as it doesn't disturb your night time sleep. take care, [gray tabby] 6/10/2012 8:06:41 AM
Being witness to how you adjust to this new chapter of your life is rather enlightening. [Energy Alchemist] 6/10/2012 3:23:37 PM
I am sure you will continue to look for little treats for Fred fo some time...its all about time.
have a good day, hugs p [Gypsy Spirit]

Living alone must be so hard, I have the company of a grandson, who is a blessing.  [Garnet & Carnations] 6/11/2012 2:51:37 PM
ON my own, I tend to make a big meal, e.g. stew or casserole and freeze meal-sized portions and just have it until it is all gone. Or, maybe I would go mad and make 2 such batches. I think it makes sense. [balansert] 6/14/2012 6:43:51 AM
I understand the 'putting it off' thing.  [mia butterfly] 6/15/2012 5:39:36 PM
