Genre:  Fiction

The Girl Who Chased the Moon is one of those enchanting novels that grab you on an emotional level and force you to hold on tightly.  You have to be willing to extend your belief in how everything works because there's a little bit of magic in the pages of this book.

Emily comes to North Carolina to live with her Grandpa Vance, who at over eight feet tall is a giant in many ways.  This is the first time in her life that Emily has met her grandfather.  It was just her and her mom and when her mom died, she had nowhere else to go.

We have things alluded to in her mother's past, reasons why Emily won't fit in, old grudges from her mother's era that are still in full force, especially among the Coffey family.  All except for Win, who takes an immediate liking to Emily, and she to him.

Little by little the story comes out, but it's not a long, drawn out process, or at least it doesn't feel that way, and the ending of the book seems like just what should've happened.

I gave the book 4 stars.  It's worth reading.
