War and tales of war.... Monday, May 28, 2012

Just dropped over to FB -

and first found this:

Thanking all who have served and sacrificed for our country.

Then I found this:
war is a waste of life. you want to tell me what the last 50 years of war have accomplished besides monetary to the 1%? i am willing to be educated.

So I left a note:

Ah friend. I so agree with you. Thank you for saying it.

Then I went back to the first comment and left this note:

Ah friend. I so agree with you. Thank you for saying it.

Completely true. [.Gattaca.] 5/28/2012 1:22:46 PM
So much wasted life. For what?

Then twice a year, on Memorial and Veteran's Day, we wave our flags and feel self-righteous.  [inmylife]

Yes. [Linda Kay] 5/28/2012 3:09:36 PM
it was easy (ier) to delineate the moral lines for WWII and prior, so i'd have to agree, the last 50 years of misdirected warfare seem like such a waste on so many levels. yet .. i believe in a sovereign God and all is within his perview. even the "senseless" wars.

oops. purview [elroy] 5/28/2012 3:31:47 PM
i respect the soldiers who serve, not the wars or the people who profit from them [oulin] 5/28/2012 8:52:08 PM
big smiles....I would have probably done the same. hugs p [Gypsy Spirit] 5/28/2012 11:57:14 PM
That defines it for most of us i think. [RoseSunrise] 5/29/2012 10:06:23 AM
I watched several vet related shows this weekend and there was one man from WWII who said it all. I wish I could remember what he said verbatum but the gist of it was that if we don't learn from our mistakes we will keep repeating them.
War just doesn't mean what it used to. We should have learned from all the deaths how to handle conflicts in a more civilized way.  [RueSome]

I was talking to a Kuwaiti friend recently who told me how ecstatic many people were when the U.S. helped liberate Kuwait from Hussein. I know we were there for selfish reasons but every one in a while, there can be some positive side effects.  [convoyeur] 5/29/2012 2:24:57 PM
I agree with Oulin. [ShabbyChic] 5/29/2012 3:02:56 PM
Amen, Oulin. Amen.  [K.Frances] 5/29/2012 3:42:23 PM
 [snowpeanut] 5/29/2012 4:54:30 PM
yep the wars have accomplished nothing. [ab aeterno] 5/29/2012 5:39:13 PM
Ah friend, I so agree with you as well. :)  [Principassa Pollyana] 5/29/2012 6:46:21 PM
yes I agree [Mz Odd] 5/29/2012 6:56:02 PM
Ah you do facebook better than I, I just sort cringed at both, not the exact same both, but the same sort of sentiment. Lot's of Html of stars n stripes and eagles with tears.  [haredawg] 5/29/2012 7:08:13 PM
:) [The Feminine: April] 5/29/2012 10:45:32 PM
I agree with both comments too. [Sunshine, Lollipops] 5/30/2012 10:46:24 AM
Humans are obviously wasteful of lives and national treasure [NorthwesternCat] 5/31/2012 6:16:33 PM
RYN: Mike lost his leg to bone cancer when he was 13. I forgot to add that he is really funny with a perverse sense of humor. [Linda Kay] 6/2/2012 11:23:29 AM
I tried the jerked turkey today. Very spicy. I'll try the sun dried tomato turkey next. Yes, cheeses too. The brand of all of them is Boar's Head. [Neogy] 6/2/2012 10:00:01 PM
I would have done the same thing. I don't agree with war, it's outdated and immature, however at the same time, I don't fault or look down on the people who have to fight them.

also- thanks for the note! :) [SessySs]
