Uncertain Tragedy

.:.Watered-Down Words Covered In Song.:. Saturday, December 15, 2007

According to my computer (which of course doesn’t not account for music played in my car, on my stereo in the morning, and on my iPod) my top ten artists in the last year (and the number of times they’ve bee played):

1. The Used (865 Times)
2. The Academy Is... (786 Times)
3. Butch Walker (785 Times)
4. Paramore (647 Times)
5. Fall Out Boy (506 Times)
6. Motion City Soundtrack (481 Times)
7. Taking Back Sunday (415 Times)
8. Something Corporate (409 Times)
9. That Starting Line (368 Times)
10. Cute Is What We Aim For (361 Times)

I would like to believe that I’m not as emo as this lists makes me appear to be, but oh well. I haven’t listened to Fall Out Boy in months, other than their Christmas song. And The Used probably shouldn’t be number one… Phantom Planet is my favorite band, and didn't make the list because I listen to their CDs more than I listen to them on my computer... I'll stop complaing now and get onto the next bit.

The Questions That Follow:

What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
"Hangman”

What is your favorite album by 2?

Santi; possibly just because Almost Here got way overplayed before the new one came out.

What is your favorite lyric that 5 has sung?

Actually, even though I hate Pete Wentz right now, I love Fall Out Boy lyrics so that’s really hard to choose… not sure if it’s my favorite favorite, but I really like the line “I’m every cliché, but I simply do it best” from “The Music Or The Misery”

How many times have you seen 4 live?
Once, sort of. Read my Warped Tour entry for that explanation.

What is your favorite song by 7?
eekk. Of all the bands to try to make me pick a favorite song by you have to choose TBS. Um, at this very moment it’s probably “MakeDamnSure” but it changes often because I love every song by them.

What is a good memory you have involving 10?
Meeting Shaant (the first time, not the second) with my mom. He’s a TOTAL sweetheart, and even my mom got a kick out of it. Psh, CIWWAF is so one of her favorite bands now.

Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad?
Yes. “Thank-You Note” for sure, and “Joan.” And occasionally “Take Tomorrow (One Day At A Time)”; not so much because the song is sad—it’s actually really hopeful—but because the story behind it is so sad. You know, if you stop and thing about it quite a few of Butch’s songs are sad...

What is your favorite lyric that 2 has sung?
Um, all of them. Okay, serious answer… “Hold your head high heavy heart” from “The Phrase That Pays.”

What is your favorite song by 9?
It’s a tie between “Nightlife” and “21.” That’s two favorite songs and I don’t care.

How did you get in to 3?
He’s Butch Fucking Walker, how can you not be into him? I mean, he’s been around forever in so many bands, and everything he’s done is good (well, we’ll ignore Southgang because they were kind of lame in the same way that all 80s hair-bands were). Which is basically my way of saying I don’t remember.

What was the first song you heard by 1?
I would like to take this moment to say, again—how the fuck did The Used get to be no. 1? I don’t even like them that much, at least I didn’t think I did. Now, answering the question: I’m pretty sure it was “Taste of Ink.”

What is your favorite song by 4?
”Misery Business.” That’s probably sounds lame because that’s their “popular” song, but I can’t help it. Have you heard the acoustic version? It kicks ass!

How many time have you seen 9 live?

Once.

What is a good memory you have involving 2?
I went to their concert less than a month ago, that was a good memory… Although, I saw them at Warped 2006 with my mom (you see, she’s awesome, likes good music, and goes to concerts with me) and he was wearing a long sleeve thermal tee—she was making fun of him for that and it makes me smile.

Is there a song by 8 that makes you sad?

There isn’t a song that makes me sad. But when I’m feeling particularly sad I like to put on “Konstantine” and wallow for a good ten minutes; immediately after I switch to some happier tunes (i.e. Hellogoodbye or Family Force 5) and cheer myself up, wallowing over.

What is your favorite album of 5?

Probably From Under The Cork Tree; Take This To Your Grave is a little amateur and Infinity on High is a little overproduced (though Patrick sings amazing on it.)

What is your favorite lyric that 3 has sung?
Psh, freaking hard to choose. I like “We’re hotter when we don’t give a damn” from “Bethamphetamine (Pretty, Pretty)” though I couldn’t definitively call it my favorite.

What is your favorite song by 1?

“Smother Me.” It’s so pretty; I didn’t know they could make a really pretty song like that.

What is your favorite song by 10?

“Teasing To Please (Left Side, Strong Side)” because I just love the music to it.

How many times have you seen 8 live?
None. Yeah, that’s a sore spot.

What is your favorite album by 1?
Lies For The Liars is my favorite. It totally redeemed them for me because I’d written them off after I thought their second album pretty much sucked.

What is a good memory you have involving 9?
I always listen to the song “Nightlife” when I’m driving home from school; not sure why, but I do.

What was the first song you heard by 8?
"Inside The Pocket” and I still love that song; it always makes me feel like dancing.

What is your favorite cover by 2?
They did a cover of “Superman” originally by REM. It’s pretty sick. Though really, there are only about three to choose from, so the decision isn’t too hard.

Hey!

Yes it's an update. I plan on working on it today to. I was on the computer like all day yesterday, it was crazy. Yes, it did have a lot of notes. We must spread the wonders of notes around.I hope you got some decent amount of sleep. Hope your brothers graduation was good and much fun was had. Oh and you are so emo. Hehe. Plus what about all the music videos you listen too? Oh wait am I the only one that does that? 'Speak' with you later.

<3 Sam she's so swell.  [SunFiredPixie]

I'm glad that there's someone else who enjoys Fall Out Boy, but not Pete Wentz.

He for sure makes them look so pretentious. [Off2Neverland]
