Lilypie 3rd Birthday TickerLilypie 1st Birthday Ticker

7:10. I went to the doctor on Friday. Diagnosed with PPD...again. Yeah, big surprise I know. Took me out of work until August 1, which is a relief.

They gave me an Rx for Wellbutrin which was dropped at the pharmacy that morning. Jon went back to pick it up before he went to work, only to be told they need "preauthorization" before filling it and are waiting for the doctor to get back to them.

On Saturday, I call and it is STILL not ready because they never got the form back from the doctor. So I call the insurance company to find out what the deal is - I've been on Wellbutrin several times and never had an issue. I forgot that out prescription carrier has been changed in the last year.

I was told that ANY antidepressant has to be "preauthorized" and they need a form completed by the doctor stating the medicine is "medically necessary".

Excuse me?

Um, you have one...ITS CALLED A FUCKING PRESCRIPTION YOU DOUCHEBAGS!!!!!

I told the rep that was a wonderful policy to have for depressed people needing antidepressants...guess its a good thing I'm not suicidal!

Oh.My.God. I can't believe they would treat you that way...especially with the attention that PPD has gotten over the years. That's not something you just 'meh' away for even a few days!!!

I had PPD with both of my kids. I'm permanently on Zoloft now. Wellbutrin gave me migraines. Ugh.

Hope you have a good one!! [.moe.]

How effing annoying!!! *HUGS* Glad you're off work for a couple of more weeks though. [Tavia] 7/14/2008 9:09:01 AM
Yeah, that is ridiculous. The doctor is prescribing something because it's NOT medically necessary, idiots. [Madwin] 7/14/2008 9:43:04 AM
That's bizarre. I thought that's what the purpose of having a prescription was!! [Conspicuous] 7/14/2008 10:14:05 AM
i'm fearful of having PPD again. :(

what idiots those insurance ppl are!! [*sorrowsfade*]

p.s. ppl STILL do not understand PPD. our insurance company wanted my family doc to send me for a neurological workup b/c i told them i had PPD after sawyer. wtf? i'm just trying to get life insurance and one bout of PPD which i said i got over shouldn't affect that!! my doc thought they were being ridiculous and wrote on the forms that he only prescribed something once.  [*sorrowsfade*] 7/14/2008 11:27:31 AM
I've NEVER heard of that before for antidepressants! Wellbutrin is like the mildest of all and definitely not narcotic status. Xanax I might see being monitored, but Wellbutrin? Sometimes people are like sheep and follow the rules no matter what, throwing common sense out the window. Take care, Suz. Still wishing you lived closer, Angie [IndigoAngel] 7/16/2008 8:05:17 AM
