I really would write in here more often, but I just don't ever know what to write about. I do a lot of writing in my real journal, which is where anything of a more personal nature goes. And I can't write if I'm in a bad mood, because it only makes me in a worse mood (I've learned that over time). And I don't want to write about the mundane goings-on of my life because the whole purpose of having a public journal-type-thing (I still refuse to call it a blog!) is to write things that may be of interest to others. And I'm not an angry enough person to write rants all the time, though, sadly, I'll admit, that is when I'm most inspired to post on here. So why am I finally writing this entry, then? Well, it has a very practical purpose for me, which is to prevent me from reading. You see, a few weeks ago I decided to re-read the Chronicles of Narnia, which I hadn't read since I was very young, and barely remembered. Up until a few days ago, I was intensely busy throughout this time, meaning I could only read now and then. But this week is unusually open, and I have now read three whole books in the past two days (I'm a very fast reader), and I only have one left! Augh! What am I to do - I don't want the story to end! It's got to be one of the worst feelings in the world, when you're reading something you love and you suddenly hit that realization of how little you have left. I don't think it happens when you're reading something new, because you don't know yet how it will end, so you can't truly tell whether you'll love it yet or not. I'm very much in the habit of re-reading books and series (what is the plural for 'series'?) but of course one can't do that immediately. On the other hand, I ought to finish the series soon, because I've got to read Walden II for an upcoming essay and I'm not one of those people who can read more than one book at a time. Speaking of Walden II, though, just a concern I've been having: is it necessary for me to have read Walden in order to fully appreciate Walden II? Because I haven't. I do realize that they are written by different people and not as a series, but I've always assumed that Walden II received it's name from Walden (perhaps I'm wrong?) meaning that there was supposed to be some sort of connection. Has anyone read both, or either? Can you tell me? Anyway, I'm running out of wind, so I suppose I'd better find some other way to distract myself. It's that awful time of night, though - a little after 10 pm, when it's too late to get started on anything serious (when one has classes the next morning, that is), but too early to completely wind down and go to bed. Which usually means I end up doing something inane and pointless for an hour or so. Ah, well, it could be worse. PS. Thank you to all who noted my last entry! I'll try to note you back!
