Some teachers at a high school in the East Bay refuse to put up posters on gay rights. The principal at San Leandro High School said that because of their religious beliefs, five teachers are refusing to comply with a district order to display a rainbow-flag poster in their classrooms. The poster was designed by the high school's Gay-Straight Alliance.Last month, the school board approved a policy requiring all district teachers to hang the posters in their classrooms.School officials say the poster is an effort to comply with state laws requiring schools to curb discrimination and harassment.
