According to the bathroom scale, I'm only about 2 pounds heavier at 12 weeks pregnant than my average weight. Still, all my pants are feeling significantly tighter abdominally. Don't judge me, but yesterday I totally dug out all the maternity shorts that Robin gave me last weekend. They're a little roomy, but man, are they comfortable. I'll definitely be taking them for hiking in Oregon. I tried on some of the shirts and dresses she gave me just for giggles...guys, I can't believe I'm going to be that huge. I gave Ivan a yeast infection. I started feeling that lovely familiar feeling last weekend. I think mine has pretty much gone away on its own...I've discovered that Activia, sleeping pantsless, and avoiding heavy exercise/sweating helps things along a lot without a trip to the doctor and medication. And anyway, my next OB appointment is Tuesday. It's the big 12 week appointment with a full physical, so if I still have anything, it can be treated then. Ivan, bless his heart, hasn't had such an easy time. I don't know if I've ever had reason to mention this here before, but he's uncircumcised...and no, I've never had a problem with it. Anyway, that + yeast infection = super not fun times. Since we have yet to find a family doctor, I convinced him to go to an urgent care center Friday evening after we got home from work. I was afraid of him having permanent issues and being forced to be circumcised as an adult (which I hear is really not fun) if not treated correctly and promptly. He got hooked up with Diflucan and a topical cream...and was told if he didn't start feeling better within a couple of days to come back and they would recommend a dermatologist. Luckily, he's feeling much better and everything is functioning as it should. At least now he knows why I whine so much when I come down with one. Though I have to say...what he had to deal with actually looked way worse than anything I've had to deal with, and I felt awful for inadvertently being the cause of it. Robin also gave us a book of baby names last weekend. We already had ideas before I got pregnant...but they needed some tweaking. Our original plan for a boy's name was Benjamin Thomas. Benjamin as a variation of my father-in-law's name (Benito) and Thomas is for my grandfather who passed away in February. It's a good, strong sounding name in theory...but after the way Ben has behaved towards us as of late, I haven't been wild about the idea of kind of, sort of naming a child after him. Also, my stepmom reminded me that Benjamin as a name has not so great connotations in my family. My cousin Benny died in a car accident when he was 15 (I was three years old, and he was my favorite person at the time)...I don't think my cousins Kayla and Susan, his sisters, will ever have children but I don't think it's my place to take their deceased brother's name for my child. With the help of the baby book, we've decided on Brennan Thomas for a boy. Our girl name of choice has been Alexis for awhile, but we've had the hardest time thinking of a middle name. I found Riley in the baby book and really liked the flow of it...Alexis Riley. But Ivan somehow got Margaret in his head. Which sounds surprisingly great, too...and my grandmother's name is Peggy, so I guess it can tie into family, as well. I let Ivan win this one, since I felt just a little bit guilty for convincing him that Benjamin was a horrible idea for a boy. I also like the potential for nicknames...Ali, Lexi, or Maggie. So, Alexis Margaret it is! Glad we have that settled ahead of schedule. It's been a great weekend. The on-call phone has stayed silent. Last night Ivan geeked out with Dungeons and Dragons with the boys while I hung out with Holly and Gaelyn. We talked girl stuff, ate a fabulous dinner of rosemary chicken, veggies, and potatoes and had just sat down to the movie My Week With Marilyn with a plate of double chocolate chip and chocolate chip peanut butter cookies when Jeff and Ivan busted in. They'd finished up "early" (it was almost midnight by this point) because Mike had a horrible migraine and had to pause twice throughout the evening to hurl in the bathroom. Poor guy. We all chatted for awhile but then Holly went home to be with Mike and Ivan and I had to go let Alice and Chris's dogs out to potty one last time for the evening since they were out of town, so things broke up shortly thereafter. I really wanted to watch the movie. What we saw of it was fantastic. Some other time, I guess. Today Ivan and I played disc golf, ran errands, and then had my dad and Cody over (Teala had a church thing) for a Father's Day dinner of hamburgers, hotdogs, sweet potato fries, watermelon, and ginger snaps. Ivan and I took a walk after they left, but I still feel stuffed.
