Prisoner Tuesday, June 28, 2005

Burnt or not i didnt eat the food.  I watched as the childern were fed and waited till i had to walk down to the coal mines.  My stomach started growling but I ignored it.  Working in the mines always made me feel sick.  Eating food would just add to that so I never eat when i had to work there.

Eventually I stood up and walked through the camps.  The mines were about a mile outside of the walls. As I was walking outof the gates I saw the gaurds takeing new prisoners thrw the gates.  They had mtal bands around their necks with chains tieing them to each other. There were atleast 30 of them all looking terrified. I caught ones eye on accident. I looked down walking faster.  He continued stareing after me as I walked away.

     "Hey girl!"

A burning sensation hit my back as I heard a whip crack. I stumbled almsot falling but caught my balance. A few people were started laughing.  Slowly I turned around makeing a point of keeping my eyes on the ground.

Maybe next time you'll listen when some one is talking to you." He baited me but I didnt take it.  After he realized I would only stand there he left it alone.  "Here, take this one." he said shoving one of the new prisoners at me and walking away.  I glanced up at him surprized to see that it was the same one I caught eyes with.  Turning around I motioned for him to follow me.

More people where going off to their work and the streets in camp were even more crowded before.  Weaving in and out of people I almost lost my charge a few times almost wishing I would.  New people were needed in our cell but that didnt mean I wanted one of them to follow me around.  As i came into the veiw of my camp the old women looked at me abit confused till the new prisoner caught back up with me.  A look of comprehension on her face as the children in our camp were playing around he fire.
