Last week Sunday, September 25, 2011

My latest entry dates from about 14 days ago, so I will write about this last week and maybe add other information.

Monday, 19 September.
I went to the gym and had coffee with the girls afterwards. To my great surprise Lydia was there too. She has been very ill from her medication and only a few days back home from hospital she comes to the gym again. She is a real fighter!

After diner we noticed that Sander had arrived home to be with his parents for a few days, so we went there to shake hands and welcome him. He looked reasonably relaxed, considering what happened. He told that he is banned from visiting the US for 10 years, much longer than I heard before.

Tuesday, 20 September.
We had an early start. I have an appointment with an oncologist/ gynaecologist in Rotterdam.
We will use the bus to get there as I know how anxious husband is when driving in heavy traffic to be somewhere in time.
Only problem is that the government changed the way to pay for public transportation early this year. You need a plastic ID card now, checking in and out while changing vehicles. It is the first time we use the new system and I am not so sure it will all go smooth.
It does not, though I have to blame myself I learn much later.

The consulting hour is very busy. I do not complain for waiting so long. It is only two days ago (not counting the weekend days) on Friday, that I had my appointment in the local hospital. The doctor there decided not to operate himself; the job wasn't as easy as the oncologist made me belief. That was quite disappointing!

I do not know much more at the moment, only that this new doctor is thinking she can help me. Within a few days I have to be there again.
In the meantime this clinic, specialised to treat cancer, will ask my local hospital to provide them with all the information there is about me.

Wednesday, 21 September.
I celebrated my birthday (on the 14th) with son and husband, a beautiful day on the boat. Today I invited my friends from the gym, also to show them the house after the renovation. A nice little party.
In the afternoon I went to the gym to see the physiotherapist. I needed to learn special exercises to strengthen the muscles of my stomach. I had a minor problem with my stoma.

Thursday to Saturday, 22 till 24 September.
After these busy days we had a relaxing time on the boat with fantastic weather. Saw a dolphin on Saturday but I wasn't successful in taking a picture.

Sunday, 25 September.
Today we are at home and it is lovely weather again. It seems we have the summer now we didn't have in August. I worked in the garden and in the afternoon we went to the beach, where husband wanted to swim for the very last time this year. Not me, too cold! I didn't even see the sea. When we arrived at the parking place I found my laptop in the back of the car. Husband had forgotten to bring it in the house when we came home yesterday. I found it too risky to go to the beach, so I camped outside on the grass next to the car with a book.

i can't wait to see pictures of your 'new' house! that's a hint, by the way lol
take heart; if the female doc says she can help then believe in her. i will keep you in my thoughts, as always, M. xx [+Pelican]

Happy belated Birthday!

I'm sorry Sander is banned from the U.S. for 10 years. Good lord! Not fair.

My best wishes and prayers for your Dr. visit and successful treatment. Hugs, [Robin W]

Happy belayed birtday. The boat and so on sounds like it was a good day [Neil] 9/26/2011 5:55:14 AM
It's good to read of your relaxing times with your friends and on your boat. It's even better to know you are being treated by a specialist who has said she can help. You remain in my thoughts as you continue this journey. [Arbi] 9/26/2011 6:45:34 PM
Hoping the news will be good when you finally see the specialist.
cheers
