Learned something new at rehearsal this weekend......Flushing your foot in the toilet is apparently the dancer's quick way to chill an ankle injury.
Our Link twisted his ankle during the army cadet style drill of Nicest Kids in Town (ugh 8 times through full show energy = DEATH) and the choreographer looks at him and goes "is it right low on the ankle or higher up?"....Nick tells her that its a lower ankle pain and she looks at him and just says "Could you just go into the bathroom and stick it in the toilet and flush it?"
We all kinda stopped and just looked at her with this confusion and disbelief...Apparently some dancers have the habit of immediately flushing their feet for lower ankle injuries as the water in the toilet is ice cold and runs right over the injured area quickly cooling it.
Not sure I'm about to jump on that bandwagon considering we were rehearsing in a place that took over a week to toss out very VERY smelly garbage.....based on that i do not trust the toilets to be clean in any regard of the word. Thinkin I will stick to my ice packs as much as I hate em.
