Hermiston, Oregon is my home town. One year ago, all I wanted to do was leave this desolate atmosphere. Now though, I feel like there is reason to stay. As graduation day comes closer I realize how much this town has been a part of me. I dont know if I would survive to live away from my family for no greater purpose. I think if it were based on my future to work and go to school miles away, then I could be strong about it.
My family is my life. I cannot face my life without their support, what about my friends? When will I ever develope the friendships Ive ordained? Theres no place like home. Today Mr. Depew was encouraging me to explore a career in teaching. He said, " look at hhs, how many hispanic teachers to you see teaching here? The teaching environment need latino women!" Hes right. I used the argument, " they dont get paid that much and he replied, " do you see yourself married?" "yes," A teacher like him gets paid 50 thousand for 181 days of teaching out of 365 days a year. Thats cool! Of cours he has been teaching for years, you gotta work your way up. Also, not to mention the benefits of 3 months off summer break, spring break, winter break and holidays and weekednds. Cool eh? The weird thing, is that hes been telling me since frosh year thats im good for it. You know, I wouldnt mind.
