ode to a month of free living. Friday, July 17, 2009

Circumstances in my life have eventually led up to finding an amazing living opportunity that only comes around once in a great while, so I decided to jump on it. Let me explain, My friend posted on facebook how he was needing a roomate to share expenses in his apartment. He happens to own a bunch of rental properties and gains most of his income through it, if I'm not mistaken. Turns out the rent he can handle within his budget, but since utilities fluctuate so much, he doesn't want to be caught off guard and have to worry he didnt create a big enough allowance to include them in his plan.

I asked about the place and after finding out it has hardwood floors and a washer and dryer, I figured that was 2 more things that none of my previous apartments had, and asked how much a month I would be looking at. He replied about 130-200, and I accepted. I moved my stuff in the next week, and have been living much more comfortably.

My previous living arrangement was with two guys who were used to their moms picking up after them and had no sense of hygeine. Long story short, I'm a VERY lucky girl, and I'm thankful I was in a position, financially, to accept the offer.

The landlord also happens to be living in the same apartment, and we get along very well. I switched utilities over and he said he would pay for the next 2 and after that the ball would be in my court. I feel bad about staying somewhere and not paying anything though...so I volunteered to help pay for at least something, and he agreed I could cook for him and that would take care of the time I am going to spend waiting for my first bill at this address. But basically, cooking in exchange for free living.

I'm still floored by the concept.

Hope your days are going as well as mine!

And if not, hang in there!

ryn: The tea is from Tea Garden. Just all different kinds, they're so delicious! I'm gonna go back to just making green tea at home because I never had problems before.

Sounds like a sweet deal! I cook for rent. lol I'm not working right now so my boyfriend pays all rent/bills etc. I cook and clean. But I miss my own money!  [neverland_goddess]

:)Yay! I'm glad you're back! I'm doing pretty well. Just working a lot.

That's pretty awesome about your living situation, too. It is lucky. :) [Scream In Ecstasy]
