Parents in town Thursday, May 31, 2012

Well, my parents are in town. At least my mom is, my dad dropped her at the cabin and had to leave for his next appointment before I had a day off. While I was up there my mom was cleaning out her kitchen and discovered that somehow she had three Fry-Daddy fryers plus the one they have in Seattle. So she cleaned them up and I ended up with one and she's going to give the other extra one to Goodwill or someone that takes small appliances. She had no idea how she ended up with three when she didn't think she had any at all over here. She said if she'd known they were there she'd have had me ship them one instead of buying another. Not sure that would have actually saved any money but I wasn't going to argue with her. I also scored a few random Tupperware items that she hadn't given me before (I have the other parts to this set) and a nifty little fountain that I've put up on my fireplace. It just sits there and gurgles, doesn't even have a light in it, but it's still nice. It had been taken apart and put up in her cabinets with her serving dishes for reasons long since forgotten, but I'm sure made sense at the time. Maybe. Ok, probably not.

While doing my first full take-down and detail clean of the shotgun (it doesn't get used that often) I discovered that it doesn't have a choke tube in it at all. I was under the impression that the barrel was built with a built-in modified choke like my .410, but lo and behold there are threads for a tube down in the barrel and the Remington site does seem to confirm it should have come with an interchangeable choke. So now I have to wonder if I've damaged the threads firing it without any choke at all. I've only put lead pellets through it, no slugs, so maybe I'll get lucky when I finally get a set of tubes bought and they'll tighten right up with no problems.

I don't dare have a fry daddy. I'd gain ten pounds in one month LOL [HonorThySelf] 6/1/2012 11:35:05 AM
