Goodbye 1111 hello 201 Sunday, August 03, 2008

When i first started working in the wire transfer dept at Capital One back in January '07, i knew we'd be moving from the building we were in. i didn't know when but i knew it was going to happen. That building is at 1111 Tulane. There were rumors that we might be moving to a location on Airline (that's what i had hoped for) or move down the street to 201 St Charles. Either way, i thought it meant good things to come. Whether it's good or bad is still yet to be determined but things did come...

Michael's severance kicked in in February of this year and about 2 or 3 weeks into it, he started working for 'Lex Luther' again. i'm not sure why Jules refers to him as Lex but that's what he is called. Prior to his new not-so-new job, Michael had been toying with the idea of moving to Sacramento. I NEARLY DIED!!! That's a long drive from home. He mentioned Carrollton, the city not the street, and i was more accepting of that since it'd only be a 10 hr drive but still, i didn't want to move. So he goes to work for Lex and about a month later, i have a big meeting at work.

They tell us were moving, just not to where i or any of us in the dept wanted. The wire transfer dept is moving to Dallas. Had i known a month before, Michael could've applied for a transfer to Carrollton and stayed with McKesson and i could've transferred out there too but i didn't so he didn't and now here we are.

The new dept is already in Royal Ridge and they're not too sure of what they are doing. They email and IM us alot with questions. They trained with us here but only for a week, not enough time. They asked if we'd be willing to go to Dallas and help train them but only a few people were willing to go so that didn't happen. We're in our temporary location (201 St. Charles) right now but we'll only be there until the end of September.

i could transfer out to another dept but i want to be closer to home. i'm tired of driving into the CBD with traffic and having to pay for parking but to be closer to home, i'd have to work at a branch and i've been in back office for far too long to deal with customers again. i also don't want to get held up. i could transfer to another dept and still be in the CBD but who's to say that dept won't get eliminated either. i'm sure all the back offices will eventually be located in either TX or NY and from what i've heard, the next group whose jobs are eliminated won't get the severance package we're being offered so i think i'll take some time off and use that time to see what the next chapter in life brings. Who knows, it might be something better...

ryn-they have to be there at 715. its a 5 minute walk. the best part is the whole school has to stand in line for new schedules because someone screwed up. they think they can get a whole school full of kids done in 20 minutes. that is laughable! [muted exposure] 8/25/2008 1:32:57 AM
