Arrived into Yokohama at half past 4 in the morning and needless to say we were suffering from the journey a bit. So while Maddy opted to sleep on the floor of the station (as we had failed to find a McDonalds – the only thing open at that time) I had a bit of a look around. When I returned I noticed a strange homeless man lingering around, watching us. Having decided that nothing was going to be open for a very long time I woke Maddy and suggested going to find somewhere else to sit down because the man was scaring me. After dumping Maddy’s stuff in a locker we eventually located a café in the station that was open and sat down there. Maddy disappeared off to find a toilet, then came back a while later saying she never found one because she was being passively followed by another weird man and had to hide in the café to escape him. Meanwhile I had been having my own drama with some odd man who wanted to speak English to me, I think he was an ex-pat. In the end we decided to go and find a toilet together, it would be safer. However, when we did eventually find one there was an old homeless woman in there too. This one kept staring at me as I was looking in the mirror and laughing whenever I looked back at her. It was still early in the morning, so we had a bit of a walk around, only to discover a 24hr McDonalds on the other side of the station.

So we took the opportunity to have some breakfast and a bit of a nap while nothing was open. After a rather disconcerting morning we caught the train to Minato Mirai, the shopping centre and observation tower.

Had a sit down and a drink in Starbucks and I caught up on a few minutes sleep before going to look around the shopping centre. Bought a few souvenirs and left Maddy to shop while I headed up to the observatory.

Once I was satisfied we decided that there was nothing for us in Yokohama and caught the train back to central Tokyo and onwards to the dorm. Once there we thankfully snuck into Sukma’s room to sleep after having a shower. Later on the three of us made our way back out to Ikebukuro. Maddy carried on to Shinjuku while Sukma and I joined the IFL people in the usual drinking park for Yohan’s goodbye party.

After a couple of hours we travelled on to meet Maddy in Shinjuku to catch another night bus.
