I KNOW CPR ... and 23 other letters Friday, May 15, 2009

Well, at least this time I didn't wait a month before writing again haha!  Or did I?  You know, I never did look at the date of my last entry, so it really could be a month.  And...I am CPR ceritified, but there are lots of little jokes when you work in emergency services.  We learned a song a couple of weeks back.  Think in the tune of "Camptown Races"...   "Start your day with a  DOA, do-dah, do-dah"  It appears that in order to work in emergency services, you have to have a sick sense of humor.ay

We started our call simulations a week ago.  I think I am progressing, but this is not an easy job.  As there are 5 of us in class, 4 of us get to do other things while simulations are going on.  Yesterday, I spent 3 hours with one of the toughest CTOs (Certified Training Officer).  Mentally, my brain was mush before my simulation, but I don't think I did horrible.  The truth is, I learn from G, and I'd take 3 hours of him every day, if it helped.  I enjoy most of the CTOs and trainers.  They  want us to succeed.

"Are you choking???  I can do the heiny lick maneuver"

I found out yesterday that WCA is laying off some teachers because enrollment is down.  They happen to be laying off Kat's 2 favorite teachers.  Kat doesn't cry often.  She was crying last night.  I'm not sure either one of my girls want to go back, but that has to be mine and Jay's decision, and we just don't know yet what to do.  From what I understand there are quite a few people who are going to be out of jobs, and I don't think they picked Mr. Boucher and Mr. Bell out of some wild idea of revenge.  My sister told me how much enrollment is down, and hey, I went through the YB layoffs.  As I told my girls and mom, I'm trying to be fair.  I'm trying to view the whole situation from their side, and while I don't necessarily agree with the decisions, I can understand them.  Also, our school isn't run by the administration.  It's run by a board of parents.  They are just trying to handle the situation the best way they know how.

Last week was WCAs spring formal.  Kat went with Nathan.  They looked gorgeous.  My sis and I took them, my nephew Micah and his girlfriend Leyna, and their friend Liz Karr and Matt Slegadis (who's last name I probably just completely butchered.)  They had a good time, or so I'm told.  There are pictures up on facebook.

Tomorrow, I'm going to hang out with some co-workers from YB.  I haven't seen anyone from there since I left back in March, and it will be fun to catch up.  I think I'm going to make deviled eggs, but that means calling my mom to get the recipe :)

Beyond all that, life has just been incredibly busy.  Softball season is almost over, and that will be a good "one thing less" I have to deal with.  Or really that Jay has to deal with since my hours are such that I don't really get to see games anymore.  I can't wait until I get on real shift work!!!!

I think that's my update for now.  Hope everyone else is well.
