This afternoon I went along to the Film Festival to see the short film selection Dream Machine which, according to the programme, was "an alchemical selection boasting superstitious, absurd and folkloric elements. These films are united in a shared engagement with a process of creative salvage and the incantation of magical elements. Drawing upon vintage film formats, found film and a keen aesthetic imagination, they boast dark tales of sacrificial offerings, alchemists, mystical Scottish folklore and a stunning twist upon the classic vampire archetype." They showed six films each between about ten to fifteen minutes from South Korea, Spain, Slovakia, Britain, Germany and Italy. Like most short film programs it wa s amixed bag, but there were some really good ones there.
