Boy Wonder Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Fame, fortune and talent. We all know him behind the round glasses with a disheveled hair flicking his wand at Hogwarts. Yes, the character Harry Potter has already been synonymous to Daniel Radcliffe. His trip so super stardom started in 2001 when he starred in the first screen adaptation of the book series by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. To date, five of the seven books have been made into films and all did well in the box office. He also starred in other films like December Boys and The Tailor of Panama. There was much controversy when he stripped naked when he starred in Equus.

Radcliffe is also the youngest non-royal to have his portrait in UK's National Portrait Gallery. Together with his co-stars Rupert Grint and Emme Watson, they left hand, feet and wands imprints at Hollywood's Grauman's Chinese Theater. He is one of the the UK's richest young people with an estimated fortune of GB£14 million in 2006. Radcliffe may be earning a lot but admits that he does not have expensive tastes and that his main expense is books. He supports a number of charities and is an avid fan of cricket.
