In a sense, my homeland, China, is a land of diversity. To be honest, with the swift development of economy recent years, thinkings are quite different among people. That is to say, many strange people have been produced. Puck is one of them.

Puck is my classmate from junior to senior high school, and “Puck” is his English name given by us. Even my teachers call him Puck and sometimes forget his Chinese name.

Because of his boring and quiet character, I had no deep touch with him long time after I knew him first time. And later a good chance went on. We went on a travel to Yunnan together by accident to Guizhou and Yunnan, which are two provinces in China that own good scenes. From then on, I had a happy time with Puck.

This travel was in July, the hottest time in China. But the train provided air conditioner, so we could have a cool travel on the train–It was a 40 hours’ course from Beijing to Anshun, a city in Guizhou near Huangguoshu waterfall. After finding our room on the train, Puck talked with me proudly, “I have a good energy to complete this journey! ” It seemed that his character changed after boarding the train. “Have energy to complete? There is no use of having energy here. Look at the electronic billboard on the all of this train, the temperature is just 24 degrees now, what a comfortable air!” I said.

Puck seemed not to be happy to hear that, and he laid down on the bed. I sit beside the window, watching the scene of farmlands. The terrain near Beijing was flat. It was impossible to see after entering southern China! Few minutes later, the train conductor sold dinner for us. I woke Puck up, however, he moaned ” Michael, I catch a heat stroke!” I was surprised, “What? Heat stroke? It is only 24 degrees now!” As a result, medicine took the place of super.

On the midnight next day, we reached Anshun. Even at midnight, the temperature there was still 30 degrees. But Puck caught a cold instead. With so many illnesses, we stepped onto our travel to Huangguoshu waterfall after the sunrise.

Sunrise could not be seen that day as the clouds had occupied the whole sky. Fortunately, the waterfall met the year when it had the largest water potential, or this day would be scraped. From nearly 400 meters far from the waterfall, standing on the plank road winding along the mountain, the sound was like thundering. What was more amazing, visitors could went into a hole locating behind the wall of water and appreciate the waterfall behind it after wearing rain coats!

In view of the illness of Puck, I suggested that he wear a bigger and thicker raincoat. Walking through the hole, the drops from the fall made up a heavy rain. Every body could be insight into the power of nature!

“Michael, a piece of bad news!” Puck shouted after quitting the hole.

“What’s the matter!”

“It seems that I caught a cold again!”

This time, I had to met with a slow process of travel again! The distance between the exit and the waterfall could only take 30 minutes’ walk. But  with the burden of the sick one, the time doubled!

Getting on the bus, Puck commented about the sightseeing, “Nature is the most charming thing! I dislike the urban sightseeing.” I was opposed ,” Is urban view not good? If you go to Hong Kong, standing at Victoria Harbour, you will feel that city is also charming.” “No, your words are absurd. Buildings can be rebuilt after destruction while natural things can’t. I have no interests appreciating urban things.”

All right, I had no interests talking with him. Scenes outside the window was more attractive.
