I am so hella bored today. So bored that I'm using the word "hella" to try and spice things up, but it's not working at all. This week has been really dragging because there isn't much to do at work and I am impatient and anxious to be doing baby-related things. I'm really in need of some more maternity shirts, especially casual stuff that I can wear on the weekend, so I'm hoping to get some t-shirt designs finalized. I've browsed lots of the available maternity t's and they're just not really speaking to me (this is what happens when you're a graphic designer for a living) so I really want to design some of my own and order them from Zazzle or Cafepress. I just need time to finish up sketching my ideas and then get them refined on the computer. I'm pretty certain that I'm feeling Flapjack kick now. I'm feeling that "finger poking me from the inside" sensation a lot today, right down near the waistband of my maternity jeans. It almost feels like a twitching muscle, but I'm pretty certain it isn't a muscle twitching since I've never gotten twitching muscles on the inside near my bladder. It's very neat, thinking that Flapjack is moving around in there. I guess he/she doesn't care for the position I sit in while I'm at my desk, since I don't seem to feel it when I'm standing or walking around. It's exciting, but it disappoints me a little bit that my husband won't be able to feel anything himself for quite some time since he's on the outside, since I know he's anxious to get to feel Flapjack too. He's very sweet, he reaches over and put his hand on my stomach in the evenings when we're on the couch together and says, "Helloooo? Flapjack?" and wiggles my belly a bit. Yesterday he tried to have a listen to see if maybe he could hear Flapjack moving around, but all he got were the lovely gurgles and burbles of my insides (I had a bit of stomach trouble yesterday, so I can only imagine how it sounded!). My walking buddy has offered to give us an old playpen that he doesn't need anymore since his kids are too old for it now. Luckily it was made in Europe so that means it probably doesn't have the flame-retardant chemicals in it that we're trying to avoid. He'll probably bring that by sometime today. This will be the first really official baby thing that we get for Flapjack, so it's pretty exciting. This weekend we're going to get started on the house renovations we want to do before Flapjack arrives. We want to rip out the nasty old carpet that came with the house and replace it with natural bamboo flooring, so we need to take measurements and go shopping around for the best price and the best quality. The floors are probably the biggest project we'll have to do, after that it's more minor things like moving rooms around, replacing some furniture, purging some junk, touching up some paint, things like that. The floors will be the biggie though. My husband wants to install them himself and hopefully that will be easier than I'm imagining. Luckily he's had family and friends volunteer to help him out since I can't really be of any help with a big project like that while I'm pregnant. Hooray for helpful friends and family! I'm hoping that we can get a lot done and it feels like a productive weekend. I'm really anxious to feel like we're getting ready for Flapjack's arrival and getting things settled. Oh yes, and I also have a pregnancy ticker now. I couldn't find a cutesy one that I liked (again, picky graphic designer), so I'm going with something minimal. At least it gets the point across. Ok I'm editing to add this in but I saw my walking buddy and he actually gave me a whole bunch of baby things! The playpen, a baby bjorn harness, a blanket, and this adorable thing:
Cutest thing ever right? My walking buddy is awesome!
