Baby Dreams & Heat Wave Thursday, June 21, 2012

I woke up early this morning from a very vivid dream in which I was sleeping in bed and started being able to feel the baby move from the outside. I had a hand over my belly and I could feel little elbows and knees pushing out at me and I excitedly woke up my husband so that he could feel it too. It was very disappointing to wake up and realize that nope, I actually am still not far enough along for my husband to feel the movements, Flapjack is still too tiny. It's weird to wake up from a dream where you were being woken up in bed by something, it's a bit too Inception-like.

The cleaning has continued during this week, my husband has gone through tons of old paperwork and I finally got my comics all sorted and put away in spiffy binders. That's right, I said, "spiffy'! I pulled out several comics that I never really enjoyed reading when I was a kid, and I put those aside to be sold, I probably won't get much of anything for them, but they take up a lot of space so I'm glad I'll be rid of them. The comic book shop where we sold my husband's collection is near my sister's house, so I plan to drop the stuff off tonight then spend some time at her house doing Zumba on the Wii. We did it together last week and it's pretty fun, although I look pretty hilarious doing some of those hip shakes and shimmies with my big ol' round belly.

We've got some kind of crazy heat-wave going on in the New England area these last few days. Yesterday it hit about 95ºF, and today it's estimated to hit 97ºF, so I wasn't able to do my daily walk yesterday, nor will I be able to do it today. One side effect of this is my feet got swollen again yesterday after sitting at a desk all day, then coming home and doing dishes and things. By the time we'd done some more cleaning and I'd cooked dinner, the skin was so tight I could feel it with every step. It didn't hurt, and it wasn't even really that uncomfortable, it just felt really strange. They're still a bit swollen today, but I'm hoping the Zumba tonight will help get my fluids moving around. Luckily the temperature is supposed to drop back down over the weekend, so I should be able to start doing my walks again. Keeping active really seems to help keep me feeling normal.

My husband started a blog of his own to keep track of his thoughts and what's going on during this pregnancy and I finally asked him if he wouldn't mind my sharing it with everyone on here, and he gave me the OK yesterday. I thought some people might be interested in hearing his half of things too. His blog is way better than mine, he draws little pictures for every entry and he even made an FAQ and put up a very useful list of baby names. For those interested, you can check it out at Old New Dad. I think he's pretty funny and clever, but I could be biased, since I married him and all.

I came across you the other day, read, and bookmarked, but didn't note. I'm near the end of my first trimester in my first pregnancy, too. I'm enjoying reading about your experiences, many of which I relate to. =)

All my life, I have always had very vivid, very intense dreams. So I'm curious what the infamous pregnancy dreams will be like! Ha. [tenthousandwords]

I'm not in the New England area, but still in the East and it has been horrible here, too. We're experiencing drought conditions. It was in the high 90s for us yesterday, too. I've wanted to be outside with the dogs, relax on the swing, or put laundry on the line, but it's so suffocating.

Hoping the swelling goes down for you soon! I need to start moving around more. Maybe I'll look into Zumba! [tenthousandwords]

I was about 20 weeks pregnant with my son and had a drem that he had been born. It was very strange waking up and realizing that I was still pregnant. Took me a while to get over that one. :) [In His Grip] 6/21/2012 12:28:15 PM
Is there a way you could elevate your feet at work? I use my recycling bin. [February Gold] 6/21/2012 2:49:40 PM
his blog is very amusing, thanks for sharing! [armydoc] 6/21/2012 4:13:55 PM
Ive had some very vivid dreams about my baby too, but they are so very weird and sometimes shes a boy instead of a girl lol. I never have normal dreams anymore! Your hubby might be able to feel movements soon, I was able to see some movements on the outside by 21 or 22 weeks, but she never kicks for the bf unless he pokes her into being annoyed lol. Your hubbys blog is very amusing too by the way! [.Poisoned.Angel.] 6/21/2012 10:56:36 PM
