A positively awful day today. We planned on having a lazy day today, just DVDs and staying in, as the weather was terrible outside. I had cereal and a banana muffin for breakfast. Then I was getting ready to have a shower and I bent down to pick up some clothes from the floor and out of nowhere, my back seized up with an almighty CRACK and it felt like I had been shot directly in the lower back. I had to get my husband to practically drag me from the bathroom to the couch, where I lay there for a few hours. My mum and brother came over to see if I was okay. This all happened about 11:30am and after I lay on the couch, I really needed to go to the bathroom to pee but I just couldn't get up off the couch. I fell asleep for about two hours and then the need to pee woke me up but I still couldn't move. It took me about 10 minutes to roll off the couch to the ground where I sat on my knees for another 10 minutes until my husband and brother both took one arm each and lifted me up as gently as they could. I shuffled my way over to the bathroom where it took another 10 minutes to just simply sit on the toilet and pee. Then after that point I lay on my bed, absolutely writhing in pain as my back was in spasms and cramping up and I was crying and screaming from the pain. They called an ambulance and took me straight to hospital where I lay in a hospital bed for two and a half hours before they gave me any pain relief. When the doctor finally examined me, he said it was only muscular which is good thank God, not a disc problem. I actually slipped a disc years ago which flares up every now and again, but this time it wasn't the disc. I think it was because I actually went for a run two days ago with a friend, after not having gone running for about two months and I think that's what's done it. They doped me up on Morphine, anti-inflammitaries, pain killers and sleeping pills and wanted me to stay overnight, but I insisted on going home. By the time my husband and mum got me home, I was very ready to pass out because of all the medication and not having eaten since breakfast. I needed more meds before sleep but I had to eat first, so my husband made me some toast with grilled cheese because I just needed something with substance, something filling to eat before I took the meds again. It took me about half an hour to eat because I just couldn't manage eating, but it did the trick and I took my meds and was alseep within minutes. I'm feeling better today, the pain has lessened by about 50% but I'm still having trouble walking and moving around. I'm trying to stay mobile and not lie down at all, but I don't want to push it. I had to take the day off work and I felt terrible, but what can you do after having gone to the Emergency Room the night before? So all in all, a terrible day for my diet and a complete write-off for a day in general, but today is a new day and at least I'm feeling better and just taking it easy. ***EDIT 12/04/12*** Okay, so I've fallen off the wagon and I am not proud of myself at all. This Saturday, I will begin again with a juice fast for the entire day and get back on track from then onwards. A lot has happened; my son breaking his arm, me in hospital with my back, other stresses that life brings etc., but I will just keep going with Day 18 as my next entry and pick up where I left off. These things happen. I shouldn't beat myself up but I have been a little, I'm only human. I WILL get back on track to creating the Brand New Me.
