And I thought we were lucky... Wednesday, June 27, 2012

So, it's been a really REALLY (did I say "really?") rough couple of months. Everything was going so well.. We finally got out of our mouse infested bird cage apartment and into a home. Yes, it's a little more expensive but nothing we couldn't handle.. well.. we've been here a month and just started to get settled and BANG!

You know that saying, "if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't true at all?"

I've been sitting here for the past two days trying so hard not to fall to pieces but the truth is, I want to cry.. I want to cry my eyes out and let myself show just how upset I really am..

My husband lost his job today.. Now what? In a town full of nothing but minimum wage fast food joints and chicken plants, what are we going to do? How will my son eat? How will he stay clothed and have diapers? How are we going to pay our bills? How in the world are we going to survive? I'm terrified... I'm extremely terrified and there's nothing I can do to calm my nerves..

Now here's where I tell you all the story of what happened and ask for your advice...

My husband has been at his job for a year now after 4 years at another company.. He jointed the military last year and used all of his "free days" doing his ASVAB, physical, ect. Sunday night he started running a fever and having really bad stomach cramps. Monday it continued and got so bad that he couldn't walk or keep anything down. Tuesday he called his boss and asked him what he could do to get his absence excused and keep his job. His boss told him to get an appointment with the company doctor and get a doctor's note. Not a problem! He drove the 35 minutes (stopping every few miles to throw up) to the doctor just to be told they didn't have any openings and he'd have to come back tomorrow (*today*). Still not a problem considering he woke up this morning still vomiting and running a really high fever. He went to his appointment and they ran their tests and determined that he has E.Coli poisoning. Ok.. He got his meds and went to get his excuse and the doctor refused to excuse him for mussing Tuesday because he didn't see him Tuesday.. He explained to the doctor that he came in like he was told but there wasn't an opening. The doctor told him that is was company policy not to excuse anyone for days that they weren't seen and in turn.. My hubby was "let go"..

Does that sound fair? Should they be able to fire him even though them not having an opening was out of his control?

Something about this doesn't seem fair to me or right..

I don't know..

What so y'all think?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated..

I'm going to bed.. It's been a long day.

Goodnight..
