To change the colors and backgrounds used in your diary, go to the Diary Maintenance menu and click on Diary Style. This will take you to the Change Diary Style page.
The Change Diary Style page has three sections: Page Margin, Page Body, and Menu Bar. The Page Margin section lets you change the appearance of the menu area on the left margin of your diary. The Page Body section lets you change the appearance of the large area of your diary page, where the text of your entries appear. The Menu Bar section allows you to select colors for the menu bar that displays across the top of your diary.
Page Margin
There are two options available: Background and Font Color. To change either, click the appropriate link. Next to each link will be displayed your current selection.
If you click the Background link you will be taken to either the image selection or color selection screen, depending on whether you are currently using an image or color for your background. The color selection screen displays all of the available colors you can pick from. These colors are listed in order of RGB code, from black (the lowest) to white (the highest). You can also sort the colors alphabetically by name by clicking the alpha link in the upper right corner of the page.
To select a color, click the link that contains the color’s name. This will return you to the Change Diary Style screen, with your new choice displayed. However, this choice will not become active on your diary until you click the Save button.
If you want to pick an image instead of a color, click the choose image link in the left-side menu, or in the upper right corner of the page. If you want to use a color or image that is not included in the OD palette, you can do so by Selecting a Custom Color or Selecting a Custom Image.
Clicking the Font Color link will take you to the color selection screen, which works the same as described above. Selecting a color here will change the color of the font that is displayed in the left-side menu of your diary.
Page Body
The Page Body section of the Change Diary Style works in the same way as the Page Margin section, but has additional options for fonts and font colors.
Clicking the Background link will allow you to change the color or image used for the background of the body of your diary entries. For more information on using the color and image selection screens, see the Page Margin section above.
In addition to font colors, the Page Body section also allows you to select the font face for diary titles and diary text. Changing the colors works the same way as described above in the Page Margin section. To change the font face that is used for your diary titles or text, click the Title Font or Text Font link. Either of these links will take you to the font selection screen.
On the font selection screen, each font available to OD users is listed, in four different sizes. You can also choose from bold fonts, italic fonts, and bold italic fonts, by clicking the links across the top and bottom of the page.
To select a font and size, click the name in the link next to the sample of the font you want to use. This will return you to the Change Diary Style screen, with your selected font displayed.
An important note on fonts:
The fonts displayed here were chosen because they are fonts that are generally included in a current installation of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software. Your own computer may or may not have these fonts installed on it. If you do not have a particular font installed on your computer, it will not show up for you if you select it. Fonts will only display on computers that have them installed.
A good way to know which fonts you have is to look at the font selection screen. If the samples of a font don’t look like they are being displayed in that particular font, you probably don’t have the font installed.
