Are we at the corner yet?

I’m beginning to think that Ryan has begun to turn the corner toward a positive disposition.  Monday nights are “Daddy and Ryan” night because Diana has choir rehearsal from 5:30 to 9:00.  My previous Monday nights have been coined “Screamfest 2004.”  Come in, if you dare.  Since this past weekend was my 3-day weekend, and on weekends, I take the little guy while Diana sleeps, I also spent a huge amount of time with him, just us guys.  I noticed he is starting to be OK alone for longer and longer periods of time.  Last night, he sat in his bouncy chair for about 15 minutes, completely content whilst I ate dinner and watched television.  After our walk to Sav-on, he fell asleep in his stroller for about 20 minutes when I got home.  In between, he was all smiles and giggles.  OK, well, that isn’t completely true.  He whined for a bit while I was preparing his bottle and screamed for a bit later on (nothing like the 3 hour temper tantrums of previous Monday nights). Overall, he was pretty positive.  He was getting more of those “happy kid” signs over the weekend too.  Last night, he slept in his crib for about 3 hours and didn’t scream until he was hungry.  Wooo f’in hooo!  He’s still a little cuddle bunny though and that’s a good thing…to a point.

My brother and his wife visited us for a couple days.  They are so fun.  They have a 4-month old girl.  Their child is very much different from Ryan.  She sleeps 9-10 hours per night (from week 3), doesn’t fuss, doesn’t cuddle, entertains herself in her crib, and giggles all the time.  Hmmm.  What would that be like?  I pray that there next child is a colicky devil-child.  They’ve earned it, I tell ya.  Just kidding.

We hope Ryan will one day be that child.  He seems to be close to becoming more reasonable.  Our pediatrician assures us that good times are right around the corner.  I sure as hell hope this is the corner.

HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! Looks as if we are in the same boat! I had to go to Albaquerque this weekend and I thought it would be a nice break from my own private screamfest. Guess what God put on the plane one seat behind me? Not one BUT TWO jet driven screamers! Ha! Ha! Ha! I almost jumped, but could get the door open before the crew tackled me.

Ignore Beowulf, Ben is actually an angel about 85% of the time, he giggles and cuddles and plays by himself. He sings and gurgles and mostly only cries when hungry or tired. I thunk there are teeth coming in now so things are about to change! xxx
