Using Fred’s Computer

  • I hate dial-up
  • If we can believe Verizon, we should have DSL on Tuesday sometime. Ummm, yes, I think the fifth date they have given us.
  • However, THIS one came from a person who called us because Fred called somebody in Montpelier {does Vermont have an ombudsman?} about three weeks ago and complained!
  • I will believe it when it happens.
  • Tuesday  at 9:30 am, I start my Italian class. I have only two books out of the three I was told to get. When I called, I was told that the third book was not in and the bookstore people would call me when it did come in. I will be mightily annoyed if everyone in the class but me has this book!
  • The day before yesterday I went for an 8,000 steps walk with a friend. It was a nature walk along a very narrow path strewn with tree roots just waiting to trip me up! But I survived it  all.
  • We have got to the slow-and-aggravating part of the unpacking where each box has a bit that goes here and a bit that goes in another place. Today as I tramped around the place I told myself it is all exercise. Only five more boxes to be emptied!
  • We still need to buy Fred a new computer desk and some stort of a bookcase thingy with doors for books {yes, MORE  books} and Fred’s "stuff. I am doing fine since I have a whole room for my "stuff!"
  • Tonight on BBC America it is the second half of the new "Sharpe’s Challenge." We left off yesterday at the point where he was going to be forced to shoot the Irish sergeant to show he {Sharpe} is not a British spy. Of course, we all know that something will happen at the last minute to save them both!
  • Ok, I am out of here…

Until later….

I can’t figure out where you put all that stuff! I think I’d be tempted to throw it out rather than unpack it! LOL! I sure hope that Verizon comes through this time. 8,000 steps! Wow! If my memory serves me right, that’s about 4 miles. Well done!

I hate dial up also. Also did I ask you this–are you going to Italy?

I be proud of my pard in many ways, but really am pleased that she will get out and stretch everything. No wimp, she. We’ve had pretty good weather up here in the north country. That Ernesto fellow kept his distance and soaked just the southern states and MY good ol’ New York, the wonderful Empire State. They can handle it. Gonna watch Tiger tomorree.

I remember when we had dial-up and it drove me absolutely bonkers. I’m glad you’ll have your DSL on Tuesday.

That’s a whole lot of steps. Good for you. 😀 *hugs*

Hi!

September 4, 2006

Wow, only 5 left? I want to be at YOUR house! I spent yesterday working on getting David packed up, then back here to organize MY stuff. I’m half excited, half full of dread. Verizon should be hanging their head, boy. What a mess they’ve made. Crossing my fingers that they show up and your speed is restored. I hate dial up right along WITH you. Love to you! ~M

What a mess with Verizon! I saw the pictures on Fred’s diary and boy, you have a lot of books! I still have a good number of books but I gave hundreds away. Some of them I wish I still had but I ran out of room. I told Fred that I tried to read the titles but it was no good. They were too far away. 🙂 Good for you on the walking.

not having broadband isn’t fun. but when it’s in, you’ll be all set. bet, too, that by that time you’ll have unpacked the five boxes. good luck with your class!

you’ve always amazed me with your walking. i wish i could take more classes, but alas, no time. i don’t wish to go back to dial up. i can’t believe your dsl hasn’t been addressed yet. just don’t know what to say about that.

I don’t hate dial-up…. wouldn’t do me any good to, since our road might be the last place on earth to ever get high-speed!! I’m glad you enjoyed the nature walk and didn’t trip on any of those roots! And I hope your third book for the Italian class comes in soon! hugs, Weesprite

You have fewer boxes than I do to unpack! I have TONS and TONS still left that I’m just not sure where to put. I need bookshelves (for books and for my pony collection), a desk, and some sort of storage for blankets and the like. I feel not at all in a good position regarding most of this… but at least it’s all tucked away in a room where no one can see it 🙂

Dial up does suck. I know because I have to use it in the country.
