debt collection

 In our students’ flat we have a subscription on the Volkskrant newspaper. When the person on whose name it was set moved out we had it transferred to a joint subscription on the name ‘Studentenhuis’ and we thought that everything was OK. A couple of months ago we got a request for payment with which we did not agree and E. would check out what was what. In the mean time, naturally, we have not received any paper at all. Today I found a request from a debt-collection agency for payment of this bill with added legal fees and interest amounting in total more than €60. Since they are threatening with even more costs and actions I decided to pay it myself and will claim it on our shared students’ bank account. In a students flat like this it is easy to think that someone else will handle things and I also actually assumed that E. would take care of it. Maybe this is some kind of miscommunication because E. is not a bad person at all. Anyhow, it is paid now and I hope that I will be able to get my money back soon.
