Stuff and concerts

In the night from Monday on Tuesday I left the door to the balcony open so that I had some fresh air during the night. This is not an uncommon thing to do, especially since it’s summer. Unfortunately, it isn’t summer anymore, for real. I caught a cold and during the day I gradually started to notice. Working on my thesis went very slowly and in the evening, when I played against Piet, I could hardly make any calculations as to the best move. Luckily, he made a terrible mistake and I won easily, as the, by far, better player. Wednesday I really started to notice when I couldn’t get out of bed at all. I decided not to go to university and to stay in. At 2 o’clock I got out and ate and drank a bit, whilst listening to Omnia and Faun, amongst others. In the evening I watched TV and today I’m feeling better. Staying ill is not financially handy since I’ve got to work.

Jelena called yesterday. She is starting her Master and seems very motivated. We chatted about others and also about my thesis. Also about Fransy, who should be back from Greece. Everything is turning back to normal at the VU. At the same time, things always change personally.

Epica’s concert was fantastic. They’re live so completely different than their CDs. I hadn’t thought about the way people would dance during such a show and that this would mainly be head banging came as a surprise. The sound was from a lesser quality than on CD, which was to be expected. But live it was more intense and with the other fans around you it makes for an in-group feeling that can’t be topped by anything.

I’ve got concerts coming up for Emilie Autumn, Nightwish and Omnia.

oh great, now you’re seeing nightwish. my envy is complete. i get that “in-group” feeling at all the small metal shows. especially Dark Tranquillity. they’re HUGE, but when they come here, they play at tiny venues and drink at the bar with their fans. it’s a rare experience. get well!
