The End of the Beginning of the End
So, I’m back at the apartment with Kyle as university classes started up again today, though I’m without Monday classes this term, so I actually don’t start back until tomorrow (meaning I just have that many more classes Tuesday – Thursday). At any rate, it’s nice to be back.
This is of course my last semester at GC&SU as well as my last 4 months with Kyle as a roommate. It was certainly good to get back and play Nintendo while eating leftover Chinese food, but there’s still a melancholy feeling hovering over it all. Or, as Kyle put it as we were heading to bed last night “Well, this is the end of the beginning of the end.”
Indeed.
Meanwhile, I’ve decided to take my AIM screenname and e-mail off the diary front page for added privacy. Meaning that any of the dozens of first time readers who are reading this can’t message me. I’m currently thinking on how to remedy the situation, as I generally like getting the sporadic messages/e-mails from diarists (there’s something about conversing with literate people that I enjoy and don’t get in my day-to-day interactions), but I don’t want my username popping up if any snoops ever google it (a similar situation occurred a while back, for anyone who cares to remember). I figure I might create another OD only screenname and just link it to my current one, though I doubt I’ll be creating another e-mail just so random diarists can message me. Anyone who cares enough to offer another suggestion can certainly feel free to.
Anyway, that’s all, I’ll update with any first day of class revelations tomorrow.
Wouldn’t it be easier to make people ask for your info, and then it is up to you to grant them the “privilege”? You could put that on your front page, “ask me if you want e-mail/screenname etc”.

You could create a complex series of cryptic clues, with the reward being your email address, so that random people would not be able to casually message you, but would have to really want to do so. Then again, that’s a lot of effort.

woo hoo! the end! 😀

You could put the information in an entry, like I did. The DiaryMaster posted a while ago about how he made it so that specific entries don’t turn up on search engines, only frontpages.

How about state on the front page that if anyone wants your contact info, note you. That way you can even check out their diary and stuff a little…

Put it in your FAQ’s, I mean really, with all the demanding fans it’s sure to be a frequently asked question. Or is it already in there due to the ongoing demanding public? Hmm. . . It’s late, I’m forgetful.

I’ve never really lived with anyone besides my brother and dad (argh)..the one time I did the dorm thing with my best friend we ended up hating each other by the end of it and haven’t spoken in four years…Have fun with your last four months!

No opinion on your email as I already have it, hah, thus I can continue to erode your sex appeal when necessary. What’s a roommate anyway, you only have one room? Where do you have sex? Oh wait.

Where does he have sex?

Why don’t you just let the new readers leave you a note and say “HEY MATT I WANT TO IM YOU BECAUSE I ALREADY NOTE YOU LIKE CRAZY” and then you can privately give them your screen name. Or does that ruin that surprise feeling you get when girls IM you?

I just realized how ridiculously feisty my notes to you have been today. I’m okay with that though. I think michael.’s note was more entertaining than this entry hahahaha. Ok, I’m done noting you like crazy.
