2010.  By the time I get used to it, it’ll probably 2012.  Or I’ll just live with the thought that I’ve been projected into the near future – it’s still 19- something to me.

One thing that strongly reminds me that I’m not in 19-something is that I can print good photos at home – never did that in the last century.

(In the last century.  I just HAD to write that)

A couple of years ago – three or four, anyway, I bought a cheap HP printer, and have been mostly satisfied with it – it printed text and photos, and I’ve printed up lots of pictures in the last two years.  It mostly worked pretty well, although it was getting finicky about photo paper, especially the 8.5 x 11 sizes – thick, heavy paper.  Suitable for my pics, ya know, cuz imho they are so fine.

ANYWAY, the printer in the last couple of day has been pleading that it has a paper jam and will not print the 8 x 10’s I want to print of Crater Lake that I want to send to one of my long time readers.  Totally flipping frustrating dude.  It won’t print photos to save its life.  (still prints text on regular inkjet paper)  I like, totally restrained myself from beating the damn thing – a fault I should have learned from by now, you’d think.

I printed up some really good shots for people for Christmas – the ones that didn’t print perfectly are on the wall in front of me, and plenty of 4 x6’s – THOSE still seem to print ok thru the HP.

That ol’ HP.  It’s like the third one I’ve had in ten years.  T’was cheap though, and worked pretty good for all I wanted it to, and if it seems like it’ll still work for text, what the hell, I won’t kill it.  I looked up photo printers online and found that Canon printers are rated pretty highly for photo printing, and another click on the Walmart site tells me that not only is the Canon PIXIMA ip2600 pretty highly rated by customers, its CHEAP ($29.88) and the replacement inks are less than my HP’s are (And if I’m just gonna use it from now on for texts and shit, those ink cartridges will last a loooong time).

So, I’m going over to Wallyworld and get a new printer.  And here I was wondering what to do with that $50 gift card Visa I got for Christmas.  I was thinking about that – buy gas?  Too ordinary.  Go somewhere?  How high are you?  50 ain’t THAT much!  Eat a good steak at my favorite steakhouse?  Ummmmm, no.  I HATE spending money on food.  You eat it, you use it up, you gotta buy more – an endless treadmill of expense – sort of a waste.

A new photo printer, dedicated to just printing photos?  Yeah!  THAT is an appropriate way to spend that gift money.

(And ya know, Wally World can be fairly interesting visually to go to – for, umm, people watching, you know.  Everyone shops there.  Seems like women’s boots are back in style strongly and I’ve seen some wicked boots there at Walmart.  Not on the shelves, you understand.  Sometimes I just want to go up and say something like "Nice boots!", but most of the time I’m not sure how’d that’d go over.  Lots of varibles to consider.  Age, race, whether or not she’s got kids running around, a man – or, this is Portland, a girlfriend, the look on her face – you know- don’t want to be rude.)

Whoa – long seque into going to wallyworld.  I think I’ll eat something first.  I already printed out the info sheet on the printer – to you know, remind of what it is I’m there for.  Case I get, umm, distracted.

Wow. $32 ain’t bad at ALL for a printer. I’m curious to hear your own review of it. 🙂 I love women’s boots too. *chuckles* Luckily, I can get away with complimenting women easily. *grins toothily* Light of heart,

i use my daughter’s printer and her laptop when i have to print out something. but, i don’t usually have to print out things. you do, with all your beautiful photos and all. i like going to walmart to people watch. it’s fun and it passes the time. don’t too often see a good looking guy in the one i go to… mostly they have bellies hanging out over their belts!! take care,

Tim & I have noticed boots being in style, even here in SoCal. The airport was a really good place to people watch and we saw A LOT of boots there. Wallyworld is a really good people watching place. http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/ ~monacita (not signed in)
