Stuff going on – 22 July

Haven’t had time to write a decent entry, so here’s some tidbits…  I do have some things rattling around that need whole entries of their own, maybe this weekend…

1) Son got a job!!  He’d interviewed at a new local italian pizza place, just 2-3 blocks away, and they didn’t call him back like he thought they would, so we figured they weren’t interested.  well, they called yesterday afternoon, they’ve got a spot, and they want him! (He’s 16 and needs to be doing something all day during the summer besides playing World of Warcraft).  He’ll get oriented tomorrow (Wednesday) and work around his fencing schedule, and around school when that starts up after labor day.  He really is a cool guy, and is probably impressive when folks talk to him. I guess I’m biased…

2)  Came out to another friend from acupuincture class – a very nice lady, a bit younger than Sweety and I, and gay but sad for her still single. We think she’s great, and find it hard to see why she doesn’t  have someone.   when I told her (over the phone, since she was vacationing in Ontario), she’s the first one who said "yeah, I figured already".  Interesting. Really good to have that acceptance.

3) Daughter is better, although there’s not a definite diagnosis yet.  they did a 48 hour ambulatory EEG (results not back yet), and then they want to do neuro-psychological tests (not sure what that is – perhaps that mentioning "you need to get a job" induces brain seizures?  I’d love to watch them run those tests…), and then maybe cardiology tests after that.  We’re hoping she’ll be able to go back to her regular college in the fall, although that’s not for sure right now.  Ongoing drama.

4) Sweety and I met our dear friends J & L (lesbian couple, J is in acupuncture as well), and one of our trans friends, M, at a restaurant for dinner last Sat.  i went in femme mode, and we even had the reservation under "Jude".  1st time for that! It was great.  Our friend M just had her bottom surgery, has pretty much recovered, and is off for another 2 months work assignment.  She does software, and has to go to sites to make the stuff work, her trips are for like 2 months at a time.  Her next one is Seattle – I’m jealous – would love a week there.  Her last one was Oklahoma city.

5)  Doing lots of jobs around the house – got son to help do wood sealer on the back wood picket fence – sheesh.  Now starting interior painting jobs, which are a bit (~5 years) overdue.  Oops.

6) Falling behind on nutrition studies — I was hoping to finish my current course and 2 more by the end of the year, and am a good 2 months behind.  Sweety recognizes the issues as well – I’ve just had too much on my plate (daughter), and not enough help from son.  That’s changing. (More on that next entry – changes in attitude without changes in latitude.)

hope everyone is well.  Heat  here in DC is breaking a bit today after a momma of a little thunderstorm rolled thru this morning.

take care

Jude

Thanks for the update – congrats to your son on his new job!

Not really ‘guessing’ about your experiences but it may well be that your ideas about your past gender ID are more important to you than ideas about your future gender ID are to the rest of us. Be yourself, it feels better to everyone. Just my point of view. Love,

Sounds like life is treating ya fair these days… and don’t most of us (me in particular) have ongoing drama! I hope you keep us posted about your daughter and hope that job works out for your son. No one should be hanging out at home doing video/computer games- very unproductive and not healthy to a young man…um… IMO.

playing World of Warcraft is a job. you just get paid in WoW gold instead of dollars.

ryn: tortured syntax is the only kind I use. of course it’s not really totured, just kind of roughed up a bit. 🙂

That’s great about your son getting a summer job. I started working part time at 15 & I thought it was great. The more you go out in femme mode the better you’ll feel. I hope that you’re well. Take care, R xo
