letters from the mire #2

My mechanic managed to fix the fuel pump within my price range, mercifully. He paid for the gasket for the catalytic converter and the rusted out gas line that connected the fuel tank to the engine.

I’ve had my car back for four days. The two current obstacles I’m trying to overcome is lack of gas money and attempting to find the right amount of tyre pressure. The car will pull to the right, and the steering column shakes after speeds of 60 mph.

I have been applying to different jobs down in the city and have two interviews on Monday. I still have no idea where on Earth I’m going to get the gas money to get there.  I also have very few minutes left on my phone, and a week to go before my plan renews. My food benefits don’t hit until Tuesday and there’s little in the house except oatmeal, chicken, peanut butter and frozen veggies. I think I might have some coffee left also.

The only things that have  been helping me to deal with the crushing angst of poverty is Bible reading, walking and spending some much-needed time alone. With my room mate gone, I’m free to watch PBS specials in my underwear and take as many naps as I need. I also have lost two pounds since she’s been gone also.

My goals before the end of this month are:

1. land a job I can actually deal with

2. keep the car running

3. make enough money to pay my phone bill and about 150 dollars in tiny debts

4. lose another 10-15 pounds with healthy eating and jogging

5. sleep more

6. preach more
